Plastic pollution is a tremendous, and dangerous, problem globally and this bill is a small step in the right direction to help reduce Americans’ plastic usage in environmentally sensitive areas like national parks.
The National Park Service’s previous implementation of a plastic bottle was fairly limited because it’s a burdensome ban. From its inception in 2011 to its lifting in 2017, only 23 NPS sites eliminated the sale of disposable plastic water bottles.
