Making Tax Credits for Hiring Veterans Permanent (House Bill) (H.R. 3648)
Do you support or oppose this bill?
What is H.R. 3648?
(Updated November 14, 2014)
This bill deals with a tax credit for hiring certain veterans. Currently, businesses that hire recently returned, unemployed, or disabled veterans are eligible to receive tax credits ranging from $2400 to $9600, with no ceiling on how many veterans a business may employ. This bill would make such a tax credit permanent while at the same time adding members of the Ready Reserve and National Guard to the list of qualifying veterans.
Argument in favor
Expands a successful program that has helped more than 50,000 veterans find work.
Argument opposed
Tax breaks for big business, wrapped in camo and an American flag.
Impact
This bill impacts members of the Armed Forces and businesses that both currently and might potentially employ them.
Cost of H.R. 3648
A CBO cost is currently unavailable.
