The Top Secret Intelligence Budget for FY2018

Argument in favor

The intelligence community plays an integral role in ensuring the security of Americans and needs funding to do its job — even if the public can’t know how all of it will be spent.

#45 and his minions are so corrupt that we need these agencies just to keep tabs on their using office for their own profits and destroying our republic whether settling up Russian rule or intensifying rule of banker, white supremacist oligarchs. We need every bit of protection we can get from the dictatorship in the making.

The I.C. absolutely must have all the resources they need to investigate all sources of danger, including DJT! Also, cyberwar is the preferred method of many countries and we must guard against it! Move with the times.

Argument opposed

Intelligence agencies should provide at least a general outline of how they’re spending taxpayer dollars on classified programs for the sake of transparency.

To authorize a budget without knowing the total expenses being authorized is unwise. The total budget amount should be disclosed.

Just leave the system as it is. I am so suspicious of the Republicans and Trump at this point, I can not support anything they propose. They have a track record of not helping the real American workers.

We just cannot trust that this congress or this administration is working in the best interests of the people. We sure would be stupid not to require transparency.

Fiscal responsibility requires at least a modicum of transparency. This is the very opposite of what we need from our government. Obviously, because of the sensitive nature of intelligence activities, detailed accounting is unwise, but a blank check is every bit as unwise.

ABSOLUTELY!!! The Trump Administration is reckless, foolish, and STUPID! Someone has to protect this country because it isn't Donald Trump and Company, or the GOP in Congress who is letting a maniac control the red button just because they think they will be able to stick it to the people while making money for themselves!!

I would like to support this bill because I know that our intelligence agencies are trying to keep us safe. The problem is that we know through leaks that intelligence agencies like as the NSA are engaging in unconstitutional activities where they are collecting all of our metadata. Until we get assurances that these activities will stop, I cannot support a funding bill for these intelligence agencies when we have no idea what most of the money is being used for.

It is Impossible to have a CIA do its job except in Total Secrecy. The job is to vet the opponents without their knowledge they are being vetted. The methods and sources can only work if secret. Therefore any budget must be secret since it would expose method, persons and sources. We live in a dangerous world. I am skeptical of some of the agency's work but must yield for security. That we have a Intelligence Committee monitoring will have to be enough

If the GOP Trumpians have their way, they will gut every single agency of the government, then Putin and his minions can laugh themselves silly and take over the Balkans and all of Eastern Europe, while we scramble about with our thumbs up our.... We need some agencies. The CIA, FBI, etc are important players nationally and internationally, and to defund them is to dismantle them. And then we're all up shit creek.
