house Bill H.R. 2881

Boosting Teacher Retention through Increased Loan Forgiveness

Argument in favor

Provides underpaid, overworked employees who have nonetheless remained loyal to their institutions with well-desrved debt relief.

Argument opposed

Band-aid in the form of loan forgiveness: money and debt are not the core reasons teachers leave the institutions at which they teach.

Help out those teachers that also received private loans. Why should they be punished for the advice of a financial advisor when they were 18. In college they decided being an educator was a worthwhile and honorable profession, yet they don’t deserve the same loan forgiveness?
