house Bill H.R. 266

$35.8 Billion to Fund National Parks, Land Management Agencies, and the EPA

Argument in favor

This bipartisan bill would fully fund the National Park Service, other federal land management agencies, and the Environmental Protection Agency for the rest of FY2019 — all of which are currently affected by the partial government shutdown.

The government serves the people. It should do so all day, every day. I would like to see a bill to keep this kind of ridiculousness from ever happening again.

Now this makes a whole lot more sense than building a wall. Helping people vs. harming people. What happened to the golden rule. Please don't let the Trump affect turn you into a scrooge.

Thank you! This is what our country needs and we do support science, research and actively confronting climate change. We support our national parks and monuments and we expect our congressional delegates to do the same

Argument opposed

While this bill may be bipartisan, it has no chance of becoming law unless a deal is struck on border security. Congress should focus its time and effort on reaching an overarching funding compromise.

Protect our borders! Stop trying to get around the shutdown! Fund the wall and then fund everything else as needed. Do your job and protect our country!

No, you give me my money back, and then I will decide how worthy each agency is of my money based on how much I value the good or service they offer. Just like I do with every transaction in the free market. I don't need you stealing my money and then spending it for me. I'm quite capable of doing my own spending.

Nothing in this bill is constitutional. Every issue here is more efficiently managed by its respective state.

Love this! Fund the agencies, pay the workers, reopen the government, and then find a deal on border security.

No wall, no funding! Build the wall for our security! I am sick of these Democrats acting like they care and then try to undermine the will of The American People. Vote no!

This is beyond disgraceful holding this nation hostage to make a point. Trumpsters, Mexico is not paying for this wall, the US taxpayers will be left on the hook. Wall is waste of money. Even border officials attest to that. Drones and other high tech devises will better aide them in keeping out drugs smugglers. But let’s be frank, what Trump really wants to do is keep poor brown people from coming to this country, documented or undocumented.

It is important to remain vigilant in the protection of our citizens. Fund the areas that do just that.

The only agencies that should be funded until Pelosi, et al pass a bill funding the border, is the Coast Guard. They fall under Homeland Security, and won't be receiving any more paychecks.

Please convince the president and congress to reopen the government, there are millions of federal workers you depend on their pay checks to make ends meet. The president can not expect to have it his way or no way at the cost of federal workers. He is selfish and spoiled and don’t know what it’s like to struggle or live pay check to paycheck. Can you please convince your party leaders to compromise to end the shutdown. Don’t use workers as leverage.

We don’t need a wall. What we need is to put our hundreds of thousands of federal employees back to work. These bills being passed by the house reopen the government, putting Americans back to work. Supporting the government shutdown and voting against these bills shows how truly morally devoid people have become.
