house Bill H.R. 265

$23.2 Billion in Funding For the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Conservation Programs

Argument in favor

This bill would fully fund the Dept. of Agriculture, which is currently affected by the shutdown, through September so that it can carry out its programs for agricultural research, food safety, rural development, and nutrition.

Yep! Disconnect the DHS argument from the unrelated departments. Get the government open and stop holding nearly a million civil service personnel and their families hostage!

Argument opposed

While this bill may be bipartisan, it has no chance of becoming law unless a deal is struck on border security. Congress should focus on reaching an overarching funding compromise.

Stop all subsidies. If I want to give my money to a business or corporation or industry, I'll do it myself in a voluntary transaction. Government exists to force people to fund things they wouldn't deem valuable (or to prevent you funding things you would).

Lets stop funding this stuff! Let’s balance the budget and pay off the debt. Let’s return to the gold standard. Let’s have money that’s really worth something. Let’s stop foreign aid. Let’s take care of our citizens. Let’s stop giving money to countries that don’t like us. Let’s stop giving money to anyone that is not a citizen. Let’s not pay the Congress if they can’t pass an annual balanced budget. Let’s secure our borders. Let’s move toward term limits. Let’s pray for one another! Let’s respect our elected officials. We can be better as a country if we just take care of our own business and stay out of others business. The government that governs least, governs best! Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country!

USDA funding includes money for SNAP (formerly food stamps), which is a critical tool for lifting people out of poverty and helping struggling families put food on the table. This is a basic function of government and shouldn't be put on hold to bicker over Trump's immoral wall.

This is ridiculous, funding the government piecemeal. Our elected officials need to do their jobs. Trump is so concerned about border security that our military is not getting paid. The Coast Guard who is responsible for our other borders, is not getting paid. This is a political stunt. Grow some balls and stand up to this idiot. All you people who are so concerned with the Constitution, need to read it. The Executive is one branch of the government. You have stood by and willingly watched him dismantle our government. You have colluded in this destruction. Shane on you. Start doing your jobs.

👍🏻👍🏻 HOUSE BILL H.R. 265 THE 2019 FUNDING OF THE USDA 👍🏻👍🏻 I’m in agreement with and support the passage of the bill which would provide a total of $23.235 billion in discretionary funding to support the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, rural development, and conservation programs for fiscal year 2019 — an increase of $225 million from the prior year. It’d also authorize $121.8 billion for mandatory nutrition programs, which is $710 million below the prior year due in part due to fewer individuals seeking nutrition assistance. This House bill H.R. 265 FUNDING OF THE USDA 2019 which would fully fund the Dept. of Agriculture, which is currently affected by the shutdown, through September so that it can carry out its programs for agricultural research, food safety, rural development, and nutrition. I’m still, opposed to the Pelosi’s Democratic House “Kicking The Can Down The Road” as did the Democratic Obama’s administrations did repeatedly by not passing finalized FULL budgets but instead using the “Continuing Resolutions” procedure to keep the government functioning. “THE BALL IS IN, SPEAKER PELOSI’S COURT, FOLKS” SneakyPete......... 👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻. 1*10*19..........

These are not necessary departments, certainly not on a federal level. Probably unconstitutional at that. Refund these tax dollars or pay down the debt.
