house Bill H.R. 265

$23.2 Billion in Funding For the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Conservation Programs

Argument in favor

This bill would fully fund the Dept. of Agriculture, which is currently affected by the shutdown, through September so that it can carry out its programs for agricultural research, food safety, rural development, and nutrition.

Yep! Disconnect the DHS argument from the unrelated departments. Get the government open and stop holding nearly a million civil service personnel and their families hostage!

Immigration is a separate issue. Deal with it without hostages.

Argument opposed

While this bill may be bipartisan, it has no chance of becoming law unless a deal is struck on border security. Congress should focus on reaching an overarching funding compromise.

Stop all subsidies. If I want to give my money to a business or corporation or industry, I'll do it myself in a voluntary transaction. Government exists to force people to fund things they wouldn't deem valuable (or to prevent you funding things you would).

Lets stop funding this stuff! Let’s balance the budget and pay off the debt. Let’s return to the gold standard. Let’s have money that’s really worth something. Let’s stop foreign aid. Let’s take care of our citizens. Let’s stop giving money to countries that don’t like us. Let’s stop giving money to anyone that is not a citizen. Let’s not pay the Congress if they can’t pass an annual balanced budget. Let’s secure our borders. Let’s move toward term limits. Let’s pray for one another! Let’s respect our elected officials. We can be better as a country if we just take care of our own business and stay out of others business. The government that governs least, governs best! Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country!

Bill Posey please stop being President Trump’s lap dog. Do what’s right for your constituency. Do you have any idea how many workers at NASA have been furloughed because of neither side being willing to move an inch. President Trump should get it with and so should the Democrats.

Our farmers are going under because of tariffs and you and your selfish, greedy racist old party are doing everything you can to hurt hardworking public servants to get a wall we don’t need. Give up your pay, resign, or restart the government. You don’t deserve a job or a paycheck.

These are necessary programs that do need to be funded on like Trump's vanity wall. The fact that Congress is passing these bills shows that they are willing to work with the Senate and that buffoon who was our supposed president to find a solution to our budget issues. The obstructionists are the ones who are not willing to discuss any options like funding the government and then discussing the vanity wall. In other words the obstructionists are Mitch McConnell and the Senate and especially the Republicans and Our Idiot of a president.

Please vote yes for this bill. Let’s get the government back up and running. The wall is a non starter. It’s disgusting that Trump and McConnel feel that it’s ok to hold federal workers hostage and all the citizens that depend on their services. They both are unfit for office and this childish and extremely detrimental standoff just highlights their immoral views on we the people. They sit with their salaries and say everyone supports them. Anyone supporting this behavior is equally at fault and equally unfit for office. You all work for us not Trump! Gotta say Right back you Mitch McConnel when you say “political stunts aren’t going to get us anywhere”. You are just backing Trump’s political stunt...so what does that make you? Court jester perhaps? Someone in the Senate GOP needs to stand up and tell him he’s so very wrong! Sen. McSally are you up to the task or just another court jester?

Congress should vote to get the government open and NOT give Trump his border wall! He doesn't care about anything but getting his own way! The middle class will be the ones paying for the wall not any of the wealthy! The wall will not solve anything!!

Oh, Jim Banks, you are such a waste of good oxygen. Good thing you don't have the votes to stop these necessary measures. Continue supporting Trump as he holds our country hostage over his stupid wall. Maybe you should concentrate on getting the terrorist out of the White House and then work on gaining your first piece of respect.

The liberal socialist democrats have been told what is necessary for the budget to pass the Senate and for the President to sign it. Yet they want to pull their usual cry baby tactics. We have a little power now and we're going to throw a fit and blame everyone else for our shortcomings. I find it especially disconcerting that people don't notice how much was done in the last two years when a Republican Congress worked in tandem with a Republican President. Now we have a liberal socialist democrat controlled house and back to nothing getting done and the American people paying for it. Why aren't politicians liked and popular again? Oh yeah their actions or inaction in this case. What a pathetic joke!

Regardless of whether you are prioritizing border security or simply getting people paid, the approval of these appropriations would benefit both. The funds to Rural Development positively impact the capture of illegal immigrants and add to the ease for asylum seekers to find Border Patrol Agents. Meanwhile, the funding to the FDA directly combat one of President Trump's biggest stands; the fight against illegal drug entry. Lastly, Food and Nutrition Programs would strengthen the legal immigrants we currently have in the country, as well as asylum seekers, so they can start contributing to our country faster. Literally, this is a win/win for both parties. It not only strengthens border security, it also relieves opens the government to more individuals indirectly related to immigration in the first place.
