house Bill H.R. 2567

Awarding a Congressional Gold Medal to the Americans Who Lost Their Lives At Benghazi

Argument in favor

The four Americans who were killed at Benghazi had distinguished careers and honorably served our country. As they lost their lives in the line of duty, Congress should recognize their sacrifice with a Congressional Gold Medal in their memory.

How totally embarassing it would be if Clinton became president and she would have to present these medals.

The Congressional Gold Metal would bring attention on the State Department that Sec Hillary, the killer, Clinton ignored Amb. Stevens plea for increased security. Still unanswered is the question: "Why was Amb. Stevens in Benghazi?" And why was security withheld?

We should honor the lives of these individuals that died while representing our country. We should honor them in some way, and this is the perfect way to represent their lives.

Argument opposed

While this bill may be well intentioned, it is an empty gesture that cannot replace the loss of these men. Additionally, the recognition could be overshadowed by people attempting to politicize Benghazi.

I know this is cruel, but the GOP has totally worn me out in their Benghazi witch hunt. When are we going to start the Bush/Cheney hearings on the World Trade Towers and Iraq war fiascos???

While this has good intentions, the 4 men who died at Benghazi are no better than the ones who died in other consulate attacks throughout history; if we have to honor these men, we'll have to honor them all.

These people gave up their lives doing the work of and for the people UNITED STATES, 3 of them gave up their lives trying to rescue Amb. Stevens even thou their request for more help was not granted and they had to go it alone. The Gold Medal is the very least we can do for these brave

Only if there is a precedent for this should it even be considered. Otherwise, it is strictly for show, which is opportunistic, and disrespectful.

What about the Americans that lost their lives in the embassy attacks in the last administration and in Reagans Administration?

By all means, they should get this award! Too bad they have to get it posthumously. The greatest honor you could bestow on them, however, would be to hold their Commander in Chief and the former Secretary of State ACCOUNTABLE for their deaths! To not do so is a terrible miscarriage of justice! And make SURE we never have another fiasco take place like what happened in Libya because of this Administration's disastrous foreign policy!

While I agree that the intentions of the bill are good-hearted, this will only allow a politically motivated agenda and controversy to be sparked. If this was a true natured bill it would have been drafted right after their deaths.

The Congressional Gold medal is suppose to be awarded as one of the two highest honors given by this country for civilian service. The four proposed honorees were Navy Seals and as such not civilians. Benghazi is a political tragedy, an enigma if you will, for public service and the lost of life shameful. But no more so than the embassies that were attacked during the George W Bush administration that caused the loss of life of Americans including several ambassadors.

These were Americans serving their country in a dangerous place. Congress may choose to ignore veterans but this seems like a no brainer!

Their lives were sacrificed for political power and nothing else. The least the government can do for the sake of their families is honor their memory.

Benghazi was simply one of the most devastating foreign incidents in which extremely iconic and significant service men and individuals that lost their precious lives due to incompetent actions on the federal governments behalf (especially an individual whose evident that has the four lives lost on their hands, so but I'm not going to mention names because it's self explanatory). Although, these lives were not just any souls that were lost but they were souls that were positively influential to our military and political leadership as well. Such examples are Ambassador Christopher Stevens who was originally transported to corrupted Benghazi to greatly improve its infrastructure, to alleviate a governmental rule lead by radical jihadist, WAS NOT GIVEN A WARM WELCOMING. The security procedure was embarrassingly coordinated and resulted in an unfortunate casualty of this Outstanding senator as well. The least congress can honor these individuals is relinquishing their sincere condolences by honoring them with prestigious recognition for their service and dignity while attempting to diffuse this tragedy. Now in this election we have two choices if four innocent lives have been lost due to poor leadership by our past Secretary of State THEN LET ME ASK YOU: DOSE THIS MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS OF A RESPONSIBLE COMMANDER IN CHEIF? OR DOSE THIS EXEMPLIFY "POLITICAL EXPERIENCE"? Stating that an individual such as our past Secretary of State has "political experience which justifies that she should be elected" is just HURTING HER COMING FROM THE SUPPORTERS. Let's elect the individual that will reject secular socialist ideology in our political system and replace it with intelligent legislation that brings us back to the BOOMING AGE! To get a strong comprehension for Benghazi take a glance at this link especially for those of you that support her for office as well. I garuntee you when you see this film I hope your decision for what administration to elect this year is slowly contemplated https://www.google.com/search?q=13+hours&client=safari&sa=X&hl=en&biw=414&bih=628&tbs=vw:l&tbm=shop&prmd=vni&srpd=6775906497966003163&prds=num:1,of:1,epd:4411405996571750348,paur:ClkAsKraX3XQLvGTPmmDP50tp3ljGfycLf_HruJscD7Yfgi7E7D8SDzZgyT5VfU2HRGTB6U9Xp9lulN5tD9ZDpnuatqf0-RcmKTsBlcQ-X0Fbd3Qz40oVyrCHxIZAFPVH71IvG4r-M06O-WFqlBguEQSguU5gA,cid:12478263303334110797&ved=0ahUKEwiTiN_3h8zNAhWDth4KHZ6kBwIQgjYImgMwAA&ei=TiFzV5OpHYPtep7JnhA.
