house Bill H.R. 219

Prohibiting Federal Tax-Exempt Bonds From Being Used to Build Abortion Clinics

Argument in favor

Since the Hyde Amendment already bans the use of federal funds for abortion services, and construction bonds are essentially a federal subsidy, it follows that federal tax-exempt bonds shouldn’t be used to support abortion clinics in any way — including by funding their construction.

Quit spending tax payer money on pet projects.. If a Company can not get a loan from a bank to build a building, then why are they in business. Federal Government should not be involved in opening businesses or Bailing them out.. Businesses need to make it by themselves..

👍🏻 House Bill H.R. 219 AKA the No Abortion Bonds Act 👍🏻 I’m in support of and recommend the passage of this House bill H.R. 219 AKA the No Abortion Bonds Act — would impose taxes on state, local, and tax credit bonds that are used to build a facility owned or used by an abortion provider for more than 30 days during a year in which interest is paid on the bond. Since the Hyde Amendment already bans the use of federal funds for abortion services, and construction bonds are essentially a federal subsidy, it follows that federal tax-exempt bonds shouldn’t be used to support abortion clinics in any way — including by funding their construction. An entity wouldn’t be considered an “abortion provider” if the abortions it performs are only in the cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger. ANY form of abortion, from conception to the now “Infamous Forth Trimester Abortion” should be banned except that of cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger. Argument opposed

In general, the abortion clinics in question aren’t abortion-only providers — they’re women’s health clinics that provide important services such as STI/STD testing, contraceptive prescriptions, and more. Cutting off their access to tax-exempt bonds would hurt women’s healthcare.

The Hyde agreement stated no federal funds will go to abortions, not the building it’s self. This is stupid, many clinics offer affordable healthcare services to people in the way of screenings, STD education, pregnancy prevention, STDs and unwanted pregnancies go DOWN when education is present. I am sick of being told what to do with my body by old men too scared to meet with their constituents. To add irony to this debate they insist it’s all for protecting children yet on several occasions many of these senators and representatives have worked tirelessly to kill healthcare, environmental protections, public schools, snap, and anything else that benefits children. This is not about protecting children, this is about control.

First of all, separation of CHURCH and STATE. Secondly, there are things I pay taxes for that I have never used. Public Schools, for one. An abortion is simply part of healthcare, as it should be. Stop playing games with our bodies, work on actual legislation that will improve the lives of children born, and get on with your lives.

Planned Parenthood does so much more than abortions. Those clinics deliver essential medical care for those who need it.

No Abortion is settled law and not an illegal activity. So leave bonds for this purpose alone.

This bill is worded as a strawman. "Abortion clinics" are places that provide numerous things in addition to abortion. Not JUST abortion.

If this bill is passed, we should also regulate when, where, and how men ejaculate. Potential life is potential life, correct?

Stop regulating women existing. We are not incubators. Federal funds already cannot be used to fund abortions, this is just hurtful and wasteful legislation.

A woman’s own body is just that her own body. No man woman or anyone else can tell a woman what she can’t decide to do with her own body. If you are pro-life, cool don’t have an abortion! I am pro-choice and I don’t ever foresee myself having an abortion but who knows what will happen. You never see pro-choice people attacking pro-life people. But at the end of the day you have to understand that you make choices for yourself and have no right to try to force others to do what you want. Having a child is an insane amount of work and financial cost, it could derail a woman’s life. Having centers that provide services to women like abortion and more need to be respected. It is a hard choice for anyone I can assume, nobody has abortions for fun and it would go a long way to not have to face a group of hateful pro-lifers when you go to get an abortion.

The government should not have any part of murdering innocent babies! This is a step in the right direction. The best would be to outlaw abortion (murder of unborn but living babies). It’s unbelievable that abortion on demand and now killing a child outside the womb is considered a ”woman’s” choice. Stop the slaughter of babies!

Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) Bill is just another Attempt to get rid of plan parenthood by defunding. I want my taxes to go to plan parenthood, 100%. Plan parenthood helps a lot of women on all sorts of issues, better than any other organizations around the world. Montana can do there thing, don’t push your beliefs on the rest of the country or it may come back to Haunt you. My beliefs is that religion that support Pedophiles, children abuse and women abuse, plus causes wars shouldn’t be tax exempt and tax off this planet. That just about all of them! Pro-life kill and destroyed family and property plus lied in the process.

As a physician I know These women’s health clinics are many times the only access to health care many women have. Abortion services are only a very small part of that. Do not put regulations on women’s health and control of their own bodies

There is this thing we believe in, it is part of our American heritage and known as a separation between church and state. There is also this whole 14th amendment, calling for equity under the law, meaning I don’t have a say in how much of my tax dollars go to Big Pharma and you don’t have a say in where your tax dollars go either. Fix medical ethics laws and stay out of my bedroom/doctor’s office. Honor your duty to protect the rights of 50% percent of your constituents whom are women.

Providing abortions should not be the government's responsibility, and as a taxpayer, I object in the most stringent manner to paying for a woman's choice (hers alone not the father's) to kill her (even born child in some states) unborn child. "Stay away from my uterus"? Absurdly childish. Practice self-control. Put others ahead of yourself. Be responsible for your own actions. Those are adult attitudes. #TheresForgivenessForAbortion

Abortion should be decided by the populations of each state. I don't want a single unborn child being murdered in my state. Unfortunately the federal government forces its will on us. At least do not make me fund it.
