house Bill H.R. 219

Prohibiting Federal Tax-Exempt Bonds From Being Used to Build Abortion Clinics

Argument in favor

Since the Hyde Amendment already bans the use of federal funds for abortion services, and construction bonds are essentially a federal subsidy, it follows that federal tax-exempt bonds shouldn’t be used to support abortion clinics in any way — including by funding their construction.

Quit spending tax payer money on pet projects.. If a Company can not get a loan from a bank to build a building, then why are they in business. Federal Government should not be involved in opening businesses or Bailing them out.. Businesses need to make it by themselves..

👍🏻 House Bill H.R. 219 AKA the No Abortion Bonds Act 👍🏻 I’m in support of and recommend the passage of this House bill H.R. 219 AKA the No Abortion Bonds Act — would impose taxes on state, local, and tax credit bonds that are used to build a facility owned or used by an abortion provider for more than 30 days during a year in which interest is paid on the bond. Since the Hyde Amendment already bans the use of federal funds for abortion services, and construction bonds are essentially a federal subsidy, it follows that federal tax-exempt bonds shouldn’t be used to support abortion clinics in any way — including by funding their construction. An entity wouldn’t be considered an “abortion provider” if the abortions it performs are only in the cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger. ANY form of abortion, from conception to the now “Infamous Forth Trimester Abortion” should be banned except that of cases of rape or incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger. Argument opposed

In general, the abortion clinics in question aren’t abortion-only providers — they’re women’s health clinics that provide important services such as STI/STD testing, contraceptive prescriptions, and more. Cutting off their access to tax-exempt bonds would hurt women’s healthcare.

The Hyde agreement stated no federal funds will go to abortions, not the building it’s self. This is stupid, many clinics offer affordable healthcare services to people in the way of screenings, STD education, pregnancy prevention, STDs and unwanted pregnancies go DOWN when education is present. I am sick of being told what to do with my body by old men too scared to meet with their constituents. To add irony to this debate they insist it’s all for protecting children yet on several occasions many of these senators and representatives have worked tirelessly to kill healthcare, environmental protections, public schools, snap, and anything else that benefits children. This is not about protecting children, this is about control.

First of all, separation of CHURCH and STATE. Secondly, there are things I pay taxes for that I have never used. Public Schools, for one. An abortion is simply part of healthcare, as it should be. Stop playing games with our bodies, work on actual legislation that will improve the lives of children born, and get on with your lives.

This attack on abortion is costing taxpayers billions of dollars. Conservatives need to pay back the United States for their waste of federal and local tax dollars. We should place a ban on paying Conservatives compensation with federal tax dollars.

So women have a Constitutional right to an abortion but under the Hyde amendment no federal funds may be used to pay for the constitutional right to an abortion? But this bill wants to further restrict federal funds from being used for the construction of facilities where abortions may be provided but not paid for? My head is spinning. Republicans need to leave women’s private parts alone and focus on standing up to this corrupt administration. Keep us safe from foreign interference into our democracy.

Look planned parenthood helps women with all sorts off medical services. Stop telling women what they can and can’t do with their bodies. Also, educate yourself. Planned parenthood was given thousands of dollars from private donations and doesn’t need money from our government. The government needs to focus on getting their shit together. They look like idiots up in congress and can’t even work together. We have other problems that they need to deal with.

Stop trying to use legislation to control the choices of Americans regarding their personal health and family planning decisions! If you have a religious or other objection to abortion, use your influence to change hearts and minds of individual Americans. All attempts to use the legislative process to control other Americans personal choices are unconstitutional! Stacking the courts to reverse existing law to control Americans’ personal lifestyle decisions and attempting to force a religious point of view on those who do not share your views is unAmerican!

Stop legislating your religious beliefs! You do not care about the women sexually assaulted by Trump or other Republicans. You put a straight up rapist on the Supreme Court. You are just distracting people with abortion, so they do not notice how you are robbing us blind with your Voodoo economics. Wake up people! They are distracting you with abortion in their right hand, while they stab you in the back with their left hand.
