house Bill H.R. 1952

Should the State Dept. Provide More Information About Countries With Restrictive Adoption Policies?

Argument in favor

Adoptive families seeking to adopt from countries with restrictive adoption policies or bans on adoption to the U.S. need to be empowered with as much information as possible. Enhancing the State Dept.’s existing report on intercountry adoption to include information about countries with policies to this effect will help give families more information.

👍🏻 HOUSE Bill H.R.1952 AKA “Inter-country Adoption Information Act” 👍🏻 I’m in strong support of an recommend the passage of the House Bill H.R. 1952 AKA the “Inter-country Adoption Information Act of 2019” which would amend the Intercountry Adoption Act (IAA) of 2000 to require the Secretary of State to include information on countries that have carried out a new policy or law reducing or preventing adoptions to the U.S. in their annual report as well as actions taken by the State Dept. which have prevented adoptions to the U.S. A bill to amend the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 to require the Secretary of State to report on intercountry adoptions from countries which have significantly reduced adoption rates involving immigration to the United States, and for other purposes. Adoptive families seeking to adopt from countries with restrictive adoption policies or bans on adoption to the U.S. need to be empowered with as much information as possible. With increased anti-abortion laws, there should be a requirement to adopt locally, and only abroad when zero children are available in the US.

Yes people need help for many reasons but one that causes huge damage is being alone. There are practices done which lead to death but we can only end it by adopting these children everywhere. I know there's places with huge starvation and it's like, so we bring them all here but no, we have to be the changes of the war, against war, yet horrible to madmen who torment their people and others. Yes peace should be the goal rather than profit. Equality worldwide, liberty worldwide and fraternity worldwide. As an naturally from the Americas mostly and am ambassador of Jesus Christ I say America should be at peace with kindness, understanding, Justice, truth, love, honor even and I just know since the world is crashing financially because the oligarchs are really ridiculous with their mounted power of weapons have to evolve into not finding life in Earth so horrible like knowledge can't be taught. Like facts cannot be controlled yet with knowledge corrected. They control everything, they're breaking everything and are tyrants and that is their goal mean everything and even in their respect they have for their thoughts that Earth is bad because of the mixed race and overpopulated let's go to another planet, I mean why else would Trump give Russia whatever it wants for free, I mean it's for his personal profit too but underlying treachery is everyday business for them rather than knowledge sharing and understanding of it's importance thank for listening God bless and goodnight.

Argument opposed

Given how quickly policies can change, it’s not reasonable to use the State Dept.’s annual adoption report to provide families with up-to-date information about shifting policies around the world. Rather than enhancing the intercountry adoption report, the State Dept. should work directly with families, adoption agencies, and adoption lawyers to ensure everyone is up to date.

Adopt American! On any given day, there are nearly 443,000 children in foster care in the United States. In 2017, more than 690,000 children spent time in U.S. foster care. On average, children remain in state care for nearly two years and six percent of children in foster care have languished there for five or more years. In 2014, 50,644 foster kids were adopted — a number that has stayed roughly consistent for the past five years. The average age of a waiting child is 7.7 years old and 29% of them will spend at least three years in foster care. When we don’t have any children left waiting for new families, then we can talk about adoption from outside the USA.

With all the excessively strict abortions laws being passed in this country it needs to be made law that only children from the US may be adopted. I mean all those forced births with no exceptions must have adopted families with no exceptions as well. No out of country adoptions. I mean really pro-lifers. MAGA.

Why are we encouraging adoption from abroad when there is plenty of children right here in the U.S. that need a loving home?! If a country has restrictive adoption policies, so be it! Choose a different country or better yet adopt right here in the United States!

Yes. Adopt American! But here’s the thing, foster and adoption courts everywhere are mismanaged. In TX, they make it obscenely hard to rescue CPS children permanently. My family has first hand experience, two different cases. If the angry pro-life activists spent half as much time and money on managing foster/adopt programs and birth control as they do spinning my uterus into being their business, they’d have a fraction as many abortions to yell about.

Until there are no adoptable children in the system here in the US, nobody should adopt from another country. Especially with the current forced birth laws being bandied about!

What purpose does this serve, special interests? Are Republicans failing to conceive in higher numbers, because they consume massive amounts of toxins in the air, water and food, due to their own Conservative policies, and their reproductive systems are failing, along with their health???? Is there a lot of money to be made in adoption; because I hear and see a lot of Conservative discussion on the matter. Is adoption another unethical, immoral profit center for corrupt Republicans???

Mike Pompeo has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2016 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests. Additionally, Mike Pompey’s only loyalty is to “American’s for Prosperity” (aka the Koch brothers), which many consider to be a hard-right personality cult. There is no way Mike Pompeo has the ethical acumen to carry out such a responsibility.

Why should they let Americans adopt them when our immigration policies are such that those children would not be safe here? And why are we encouraging adoption abroad when there are children here who are suffering?

No, Congresswoman Sherrill May I respectfully submit an alternative vision consistent with the US Constitution. This is a vision where The United States will emerge as a world class leader in adoptions. “We The People....will form a more perfect union...” where the conflict of individual rights will be resolved in a court under the rule of law. Women will rightly exercise their reproductive rights with their male partners. They will be able to choose to be parents of a newborn or place the child in the adoption process at anytime even during the pregnancy which can be financially supported to cover medical and related costs. The adoption process will be revamped to make adoption timely, low cost, and efficient and will protect the rights and privacy of both birth and adopting parents. The economic benefits that will flow from increasing the US birth rate by nearly a million babies a year will be extraordinary and sufficient to provide child dedicated financial resources to assist adopting parents with the long term costs associated with parenthood. Personal Conflict and Guilt associated abortion can be replaced with the peace of mind that a human life has been saved and a caring, efficient, cost effective, legal process is in place to assist parents and communities. If we can envision an America without abortion,we can also envision a “more perfect union”. Even perhaps the gift of a Cancer free world thanks to a future scientist that emerged from our gift to the next generation.

There are children in this country that need loving parents. Why do people need to go to other countries. Could it be that this country makes it so expensive and so restrictive that people can’t adopt our kids? Just think how the abortion rate would go down if these babies had homes to go to.

My ex and I have adopted out of country and had no problems. Thee only reason we didn’t adopt from within the United States is at the time we adopted, the original parents could still take them back at any time

If we have such a problem with abortions in this country why don't we have more adoption agencies available to take these children and have them adopted by American families. Providing adoption as an option would certainly help encourage people to not have abortions.
