This bill makes a number of provisions related to domestic refugees. First, the bill directs the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office to conduct a study regarding the effectiveness of the Office of Refugee Resettlement's domestic refugee resettlement programs. Second, the bill elevates the Office of Refugee Resettlement within the Department of Health and Human Services. Third, the bill revises the manner in which state and local organizations disperse grant money. Next, the bill expands data collection on refugees at the state level. Finally, the bill directs Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide refugee resettlement guidance to appropriate national, state, and local entities.
