house Bill H.R. 1719

Should Congress Expand the Historic Site Honoring Influential Conservationist John Muir?

Argument in favor

There’s no reason that the Dept. of the Interior shouldn’t accept a donation of 44 acres to expand the John Muir National Historic Site.

CBO estimates doing this will COST NOTHING. It also adds 44 acres to the National Parks System. As a country, we need to start changing our priorities toward saving our planet instead of destroying it.

John Muir's work helped save some of our nation's oldest and most iconic landmarks. This will honor his legacy and further our cultural heritage.

Argument opposed

Before allowing the Dept. of the Interior to accept this donation, Congress should require that they have a plan in place to manage it.

Quit spending money on these frivolous honors. We can't keep honoring everybody that does something special.

Who's donating the 44 acres??? Did the Cali liberals claim eminent domain to steal somebody's land??? The Feds always have some "good" reason for their land grabs, don't they?! I VOTE NAY!

Who donated the land? How will maintenance be included in the current budget?
