What is it?

Provides $17 billion in immediate support for the families and communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The remaining $33 billion aids with the repair of roads and bridges (~$20 billion), the Department of Homeland Security's Disaster Relief Fund (~$6.5 billion) and funds for the Army Corps of Engineers (~$4 billion). The bill also prohibits the federal government from acquiring new lands with the fund. This bill was signed into law by President Obama in January 2013.
