From all appearances, this is an obviously blatant effort by the fossil energy producers to avoid regulating their CO2 emissions – much as the tobacco industry faced when first threatened with government-mandated cigarette warnings. The obvious reason for this act is to quash any and all efforts of those wishing to take actions to ameliorate global warming via a revenue-neutral carbon tax which will would benefit the economy, most American households, and the environment. As my representative concerned with the health and welfare of all your constituents, I strongly urge you not to support this act.
