Judge Shirley A. Tolentino, 67, of Jersey City, died Sunday, October 31, 2010. Judge Tolentino was appointed to the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey on January 11, 1984. She was the first African-American woman judge at the Jersey City Municipal Court and first African-American woman appointed to a judgeship at the New Jersey state Superior Court.
