You will never convince me that more guns make it safer. If that were true, we would be the safest place on earth. That is certainly not true.

Bringing weapons into schools would not solve the problem at hand, and would only escalate tensions in schools. It would legalize intimidation and fear, and would not make students or teachers any safer. "Protection" is a false justification for the expansion of firearms. It protects no one; a person with a gun who is aimed at by another person with a gun will only feel more threatened, and more likely to shoot. Regardless of whose hands a gun is in, it is designed to kill and will continue to kill.

We are assuming here that we cannot stop gunmen from entering schools. This cannot be true and we need to focus our energies on that solution.

95% of public mass shootings occur in gun free zones and attract the deranged evil persons that take innocent lives. It's time to allow good people the opportunity to protect our children.

Most shootings occur in "gun free" zones which are nothing more than a sign saying it's illegal. Its not an invisible barrier that stops people.

Having qualified individuals who know how to handle a firearm would without a doubt prevent school shootings. Anyone cowardly enough to target children at a school would not dream of attacking someone who could pose a fair fight.

This is beyond absurd. Guns should not legally be near children especially in an institutional, tax-funded setting. This is disgraceful and will coat more lives (sadly young lives) that. It will ever save. This is a preposterous notion.

If you think for one second that a “gun free zone” sign is going to protect you then you have absolutely no common sense whatsoever. If you don’t feel comfortable having a gun then ok, don’t buy one. However, us Americans who are more than willing to take a stand and protect you when things hit the fan want to be able to do so when the time comes. I think it’s ridiculous that someone can believe guns are not the solution however when something goes wrong we call someone with a gun to come help (the police). How do you not see that it would be better to have someone with a gun to already be sitting beside you. Also the argument that “you don’t need an AR-15 for hunting” your EXACTLY right but guess what snowflake the 2nd amendment wasn’t written for hunting. It was written for us to protect ourselves against tyranny (our government turning on us). If you think that you can protect yourselves against the government with .22s and hunting rifles then you don’t even deserve to have the right to vote. If we are asked to give up our guns, that’s when the 2nd amendment would initiate its purpose against a government turning on its people after promising the rights listed in the Bill of Rights.

Never, ever. I feel unsafe going to school as an American student already.

I am more afraid of a jumpy guard losing their mind or using the weapon as a threat or a form of discipline. Guns are intimidating and counter-productive to learning.

Think about it, really, what if a persons who plan is to get a gun by stealing it from a security guard at the school. Why don't we just stick to tasers right now.
