It’d be a waste of taxpayer dollars to buy more missiles to fuel a modern arms race between the U.S. and Russia. Upholding the INF Treaty’s ban on missiles keeps the door open for a renegotiation and resumption of the treaty, which would enhance global security.
Russia has suspended its participation in the INF Treaty and China has a growing arsenal of missiles in that class because it never joined the treaty. As a result, it’s important for the U.S. military to be capable of buying any and all weapons that they need to deter aggression.
