house Bill H.R. 1200

Raising the Cost-of-Living Compensation Rates for Veterans and Their Survivors

Argument in favor

While it doesn’t establish automatic cost-of-living increases, this bill does provide a boost the benefits received by veterans and their families for another year.

This is once again the Republican hypocrites who go on FOX news and rally “We must take care of our Veterans”. Then when it comes to voting, the solid Red Ass holes vote against the Veterans and the first responders. Remember after 911 it was the Republicans that would not allow responders to receive compensation for their cancer. The republican assholes fought that it was upon the first responder to prove that they got the cancer when they responded to 911. Look it up. Fucking liars only do what’s good for themselves and their rich donors. Meanwhile people die🖕Susan Collins

Great! Now increase the pay for our federal workers and also increase the federal minimum wage. $7.25 is a poverty wage!

I support thus bill. But I believe that this bill should be replaced by one that makes the increase automatic based on other calculable statistics such as COLA adjustments or inflation calculations made by a reputable source.

Argument opposed

Rather than having to approve this cost-of-living adjustment each year, the benefits provided to veterans and their survivors should just be indexed to inflation or increases in Social Security benefits so the increases are automatic.

I would do absolutely anything for our Veterans but... Why just certain disabled vets? Why just certain areas receiving cost of living increases? Why does it require approval every year? Why is there a round down provision? Why do the VFW and the DAV only provide conditional support? Why is everything to do with Veterans half assed? Our Vets gave much and many many gave all. When are we going to treat them with the respect due to them? No! I will not support any half assed bills any longer! You tie this bill to inflation and make it a true COLA that does not have to be approved annually or don’t do anything at all which is what you always do! There is no point in some getting an increase one year and then it being voted down the next. As a military widow of an Air Force Veteran with a 100% Service Connected Disability and a child under one when he died I will not support this. It’s just not good enough.

Look at the veteran MAGAotts wailing about the deficit, how broke we are, how they don’t want government healthcare or handouts right up to the moment that the handout money or healthcare is for them. I still support this. I know not all veterans are assholes, but YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING HYPOCRITES.

As a disabled veteran who relies each month on my VA Disability Compensation; as that’s the only way I have to survive, each dollar is vital. I appreciate a COLA raise each year although it doesn’t cover the rise in prices but it definitely helps. I’m grateful for my VA healthcare if it wasn’t for getting my Med’s through them I don’t know what I’d do. I fully support HR 1200 and Thank you for this raise and additional benefits. #MAGA

Why do we send our soldiers to war and then fail to support them afterward? This is not a recent failing. Look back into history and vets rallying for compensation. Either stop entering into conflicts around the world or pay for the consequences of doing so. They deserve our total support.

Neither party has done much for Vets. Although, the President did improve Vet health care and the VA is beginning to clean up its act, finally. He's done much more than Obama ever did. Not to mention, the last administration gutted our military. So if anyone wants to call the other side hypocrites, talk to a vet and see who they support-most are for Trump. I've never met a vet who supports the Dem touted socialism agenda. So, yes, give them a cost of living raise this year. They are to be honored at every chance we get.

👍🏻Veteran H.R. 1200: Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment👍🏻 I’m in full and strong support of the H.R. 1200 Bill AKA Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2019 which would direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) to increase the rates of compensation for several areas of veterans’ living expenses. As of December 1, 2019, the rates of veterans’ disability compensation, additional compensation for dependents, the clothing allowance for certain disabled veterans, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children would be increased. Each of these increases would be based on the percentage used to raise Social Security benefits. While it doesn’t establish automatic cost-of-living increases, this bill does provide a boost the benefits received by veterans and their families for another year. SneakyPete..... 👍🏻👍🏻H.R-1200👍🏻👍🏻. 5*19*19.....

In a perfect world, those who have risked their lives to defend ours should be able to come back home and never have to worry about how they will pay their bills, pay for healthcare or pay for their children’s education. We will be forever indebted to these brave men and women, and their families. I wish we could and would do more for them.

SINCE INFLATION AND TRUMP'S TARIFFS HAVE ALREADY WIPED OUT ANY GOOD THAT THE TAX CUTS DID FOR THOSE OF US WHO AREN'T BILLIONAIRES, YES, OUR BRAVE FIGHTING VETS DESERVE TO HAVE A BIT MORE SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO GO BEGGING. BUT THE REPUBLICANS NEVER VOTE TO HELP VETERANS, ALTHOUGH THEY GIVE LIP SERVICE TO HONORING THEM. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO BENEFITS PACKAGES, THEY NEVER SUPPORT VETS WITH MONEY--TALK IS CHEAP!
