house Bill H. Joint Res. 37

Should U.S. Forces Helping the Saudi Coalition Against Iran-Backed Rebels in Yemen be Withdrawn?

Argument in favor

Congress never authorized the participation of U.S. military forces in the conflict in Yemen between the Saudi coalition and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels. Those troops should be withdrawn.

The Saudi's have been behind so many atrocities, I simply don't believe they are on the right side of history. We shouldn't be helping their regime and we certainly shouldn't be selling them any weapons or giving their military support.

What the Saudis have been doing in Yemen is a travesty and a debacle. We need to stop supporting their insanity.

Argument opposed

The U.S. has a clear national interest in helping the Saudi coalition defeat the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Requiring the removal of the troops providing that assistance is ill-advised.

No! And I you put this question out already! We cannot afford to allow Iran to gain control in the Middle East! Period!

17 of the 19 terrorist who flew planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon were Saudis. They are not America’s allies. They are more of Trump’s crioked friends.

Saudi Arabia is not a ally. They are poison shilling, chem pushers that support the USA oil addiction for profit. Energy independence isn’t just a environmental issue. It’s a national security issue. Oil imports are most problematic in domestic politics and energy security when they come from countries that are openly hostile to US foreign policy and interests (Iran, Venezuela, and formerly Iraq), are former or potential future rivals (Russia) or have questionable alliances and human rights practices (Saudi Arabia). We can’t continue being beholden to these countries for our energy.

We need to stop being a part of this Saudi led genocide and immediately find a way to provide drastically needed emergency medical and food assistance to the starving civilians of Yemen who are all non combatants, but yet are starving to death and dying of cholera by the hundreds of thousands and perhaps even millions right now in one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters ever! It is wrong for America to be a part of this genocide! We must provide these civilians with aide now! Millions of innocent people and young children are dying every day! Please stop this, and send immediate aide!

This bill should be amended to provide humanitarian aid to the innocent victims in this war. Women, children and non-combatants must be helped. Just walking away is not what we should do since the US has been complicit in part of the human disaster!

Let’s be clear, the U.S. is illegally participating in a civil war in Yemen! This has not been authorized by Congress and we should not be there anyway. We should not be assisting the Saudis in the creation of a humanitarian disaster in that country! The Saudis are bombing civilian areas killing thousands and millions are starving! We need to pull our troops out, stop selling weapons to the Saudis, and condemn them for war crimes!

We should get out of Yemen and stop supporting those that are waging this war. Until Saudi Arabia owns the fact they assassinated Jamal Khashoggi we should stop supporting them.

We never should have given our support to another proxy war where innocent men, women and children are in the crossfire of a struggle between Saudi Arabia and Iran over whose dictatorship gets control of the lives of the Yemeni people.

The only "vital interest" the US has in this war is to continue to enrich the American Oligarchy at the expense of the "rest of us". Americans should be ashamed of the Empire they support that condemns the world to so much suffering merely to ensure Jeff Bezos can buy a bigger yacht.
