Avoiding Another Government Shutdown: The Temporary Stopgap Spending Bill

Argument in favor

It's not perfect, but authorizing funding without any controversial add-ons beats another government shutdown.

Collective bargaining is one of the only protections with workers. Do you stand with workers?

Don't cave to Obama's executive amnesty. Dont Shut DownOur Security. If you do support this and amnesty passes, it will be the end of the Republican Party... that's a guarantee.

Argument opposed

Congress can't keep putting bandaids on huge problems. They need to hunker down and actually agree on a long-term budget.

No one was upset about the last shutdown but the Democrats. Now we have the fight to stop the amnesty and I'm not so sure that the Republicans want it stopped either. DO YOU REMEMBER WHO YOU WORK FOR, YOU WORK FOR ME AND ALL OTHER TAX PAYERS, NOT REP. PARTY OR OBAMA

No. You know this is wrong. Do you ever try to sympathize with those being affected?

I am for a temp stop gap bill, but if obama refuses to get on board with the constitution, reduce govt spending and bureaucracies, and give this country back to WE THE PEOPLE, then I say SHUT IT DOWN!

Avoid the shutdown and actually do what you're paid to do. Run the government. But fund the thing too. Jesus.

Pay the workers but it will stop the paying out of huge sums while there is noone there to write the checks. SS should work without a person writing the checks. I paid for it already.

It is time to make the tough decisions to come up with a balanced budget. There are so many foolish expenditures that could be reduced or eliminated. And I don't mean aim immediately for the defense budget. Let's cut Social Security checks going to people who died ten years ago - but the family really appreciates the checks. Let's review who is fraudulently on SSI. Let's limit SSI for addicts to 18 months, and require they go into rehab and get sober. Addiction is cureable so why do we accept their being disabled in perpetuity? Let's cut the budget of non-essential agencies 5% across the board and let them make the cuts. Lots of alternatives to deficit spending year after year.
