The department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday it will triple the size of an immigration detention camp outside El Paso to accommodate up to 3,800 migrant children, reports the Dallas Morning News.
The details: Kenneth Wolfe, a spokesman for HHS, said the expansion is in response to the growing number of new arrivals at the border, not the administration’s family separation policy that ended in June after amid widespread rebuke. Wolfe said that the Tornillo site will stay open through the end of the year.

Stop incarcerating children and families! These are human rights violations! Pass tough, sensible, humane immigration laws.
The detention of migrant children is immoral, inhumane, and unconstitutional. Congress must take strong action immediately to stop this ongoing trauma to these children. They come to the U.S. for a better life - it's the least we can do to provide that for them.
The current conditions are atrocious! Treat these human beings right.
I'm all for reuniting children with their parents. Just make it is in the country they came from.
I am horrified that anyone thinks it is okay to detain children in this manner. I don’t care whether it is a tent or a cell, it is entirely wrong, and I am truly disturbed our country is endorsing such cruel behavior. End this now!
There should be NO children in detention camps. PERIOD!
Im not sure what to think about this issue what is your view ?
Yes. Children must be kept out of jails. If parents break the law, they must be incarcerated until they are sent home. Catch and release is bad policy and needs to end. Give the II's back their kids and send them back.
Reunite the kids with their parents. What is WRONG that the Trump people have no compassion whatsoever for refugees. All I hear is yapping about how much immigrants cost America, but then they are okay with spending money to incarcerate children. Makes absolutely no sense.
How about increasing the number of all staff needed to adjudicate each person’s or family’s request for asylum instead of creating what amounts to concentration camps! Furthermore with the continued influx why not try discussions with Mexico to address a common problem instead of the adversarial approaches by the current administration.
Stop locking up children!
Stop stealing the children. If ICE is deporting the adults, the children sons go back with them. If the country is to dangerous to send the children back to, it's to dangerous to send the adults back to, start the asylum process in those situations, and keep the families together. This is not rocket science. Just apply a little common sense.
I can't believe I live in a country that one day will be in history, AGAIN, for creating detention camps for "unwanted" people in our "free" country.
Do not allow expansion of determent camps for children or adults. This is despicable policy that is just like Nazi Germany. This is inhuman and destroying families and psychologically damaging children. This is child abuse. Quite protecting this administrations horrific policies that have put a black mark on our country. You are supposed to check and balance the executive branch. The majority of the country want you to do just that. Please bring back country over party.
Build the wall.
Reunite families and release them with ankle monitors until their asylum hearing. Instead, put 45 and his regime in detention camps until their trials.
No more $ for this awful program
No I don’t agree with increasing the amount of holding tents for migrant children. What are we doing? Taking lessons from Putin?
This human rights violations need to stop, not grow larger with these tent cities.
No don’t you think you are making enough money on these people God does not like you hurting His children may he have mercy on your souls
End this nightmare now!
We need to get these children out of any form of detention and back with their families.
This is disgusting. After the massive, bipartisan response from citizens nationwide who said they are opposed to the detainment of children, the government chooses to ignore its own and actually triple down on its threat to jail children in the middle of a desert. We are done with you. I hope everyone votes in November! That’s the best way to stop this.
