The Daily Countable: Take Action Today!

THURSDAY, AUGUST 10, 2017

What to Watch

What Everyone Is Watching

  • Besides North Korea and Guam? McConnell and Trump. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) lamented President Trump’s "excessive expectations" for his agenda. In response, Trump tweeted, “Senator Mitch McConnell said I had ‘excessive expectations,’ but I don't think so. After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?”

What’s Worth Watching

  • The courts. Five openly transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military have sued President Trump, and top Pentagon officials, for the right for transgender troops to continue serving in the military. The lawsuit comes in response to Trump’s Twitter declaration banning trans people from serving in the armed forces.

The President: Bedminster, N.J.

  • At 11:30 AM EDT, the President has lunch with Vice President Mike Pence at the Trump National Golf Club, where the President is having a work-vacation.

The House of Representatives: OUT OF SESSION

The Senate: OUT OF SESSION

Keep taking action, CountaCritters.

I think it's an outrage that a 2 page news summary is prepared for Trump twice a day. So he gets fake news about how wonderful he is (positive images of him) and not what he should get. This smacks of accommodating Trump to the detriment of our country. When this happens, it indicates to be that the President is incapable of dealing with real news. Thus the people around him are compromising the business of governing. This is an outrage! No better than the Republicans who criticized health care for 8 years and now can't fix the system. Is this what we elected our congress to do?

I think Trump has a point in saying that the Republicans had 7 whole years to come up with something and they didn't bother. Having said that, Trumps continued tweeting of admonishing public statements of those on his own team and party, shows just how immature he truly is. He should have private meetings with those he has a difference of opinion with to tell them what he expects. Trump is in no way "Presidential"!

Our representatives need to stand up to Trump. He is his own worst enemy and eventually will bring his administration down. Hopefully, we will still have a country and w world when that happens.

Mitch McConnell has for 7 years been promising to repeal and replace Obamacare. The American people had high expectations that Congress would do what they promised. Time to replace McConnell.

It has been such a nice week. I haven't had to worry once about the stupid last minute corrupt 📜legislation OR wonder who Trump is trying to appoint. 🙏Please Mr. President step down! ⤵️Give this country a reprieve from your tirades. Congress members and Senators while your on vacation 🌴🌴please think about who you serve. If you cannot serve your constituents first and foremost then step down! ⬇️

DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE FOR A CHANGE FOR THE WELFARE OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC !!!! ACTUALLY DO YOUR JOBS AND GOVERN FOR THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE AND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !!!!! DO A THOROUGH CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION AND GET RID OF ITS POLITICAL CORRUPTION !!!!!! BREAK UP MONSANTO, PHIZER, AND ALL OTHER MONOPOLIES INTO SMALL ORGANIZATIONS !!!!! AND DON'T EVEN ENTERTAIN THE NOTION OF CONFIRMING TRUMPS TWO NEW PICKS FOR NEW YORK'S US DISTRICT ATTORNEY MOB GENERALS ! MY OBSERVATION AND OPINION IS THAT YOU CORRUPT CONGRESS PEOPLE THAT WANT TO WAGE POLITICAL WAR ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN SUPPORT OF YOUR CORRUPTED AGENDAS AND YOUR TRILLION AND BILLIONAIRE BENEFACTORS, ARE GUARANTEED, YOU WILL HAVE WAR, A REAL SHOOTING WAR, AND YOU WILL DIE IN IT !!!! THIS IS PURELY AN OBSERVATION AND MY OPINION, NOT AT ALL A THREAT ON MY PART.

The blame game will not help my employees or my family get medical insurance next year. I am a small business person and insurance companies are predicting double-digit premium increases, less coverage, and higher deductibles. Stop blaming one another! And get the job done.

McConnell is part of the GOP establishment, same ole' same ole' politics of power and greed Trump is trying to fight along with the Democrats establishment of liberal socialism. McCain and Graham are part of the GOP establishment too.

The only reason McConnell has not outright savaged trump yet, is he keeps believing that trump is somehow useful. He will sign any bills they put in front of him and will won't hinder legislation.

trump and McConnell's issues with each other should be discussed in private. A public forum is inappropriate and certainly childish on trump's part, especially as a sitting president. Sad.

I sure wish we had Obama and crew back. Those were the days when the entire administration worked as a team to break laws where they could and did and then take the fifth amendment or, if needed, Lynch was there to get the FBI to look the other way or, in most cases, just fail to investigate the wrong doing. Finally, if all else fails it was simply get the case to the ninth circuit court where they could find our country's most liberal set of judges to side with the administration regardless of the facts. Yes, those were the days to remember.

To DJT, you had the same amount of time to come up with a workable Healthcare Plan. What it all boils down to is YOU made ACA (Obamacare) such a buzzword and made plain your determination to get rid of it in your campaign. You admitted after taking office that you had NEVER even read it! When you did, you said it had some good parts and that Healthcare was "complicated". Then, you promptly handed off the ball to Congress. BTW, ask them about fire, fury and power, it's extremely obvious that no one wants to lose ACA for the dubious plans they have proposed! They have been deluged with phone calls, letters and messages by constituents! If they didn't fear losing their jobs, they would have voted for one of them! This is at least half your fault for lying about a fictitious plan you said you had which would be better and cheaper! So, I wish you would man up and work WITH both parties in Congress to get a fair, equitable plan in place. Have you considered at all how Real History will perceive you? It isn't looking good! You don't want your descendants to live in shame.

You can't blame McConnell for testing the waters. He is between a rock and a hard place, defending an unhinged president's agenda or trying to save face , and keep his job, with the American people....
