Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Tuesday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, with opening statements by committee members and the nominee. 9:30am
Wednesday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, who will begin his testimony. Start time TBA
- The Joint Conference Committee on the H.R. 2: The Farm Bill will hold a meeting. 9:30am
- The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a hearing on foreign influence operations’ use of social media platforms. 9:30am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing titled “Assessing the Value of the NATO Alliance”. 10am
- The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Impact of Zero Tariffs on U.S. Autoworkers”. 10am
- The House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing titled “Twitter: Transparency and Accountability” featuring testimony from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. 1:30pm
Thursday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, who will continue his testimony and will be followed by testimony from those who know the nominee, legal experts, and the American Bar Association. Start time TBA
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing to examine outside perspectives on Russia sanctions, focusing on current effectiveness and potential next steps. 10am
- The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled “A Failure to Act: How a Decade without GSE Reform Has Once Again Put Taxpayers at Risk”. 10am
- The Joint Economic Committee will hold a hearing on the positive economic growth effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. 2:30pm
Friday
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will potentially hold hearings on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, which would likely focus on testimony from those who know the nominee, legal experts, and the American Bar Association. Start time TBA
- The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Terrorism & Illicit Finance will hold a hearing titled “Survey of Terrorist Groups and Their Means of Financing”. 9:15am
