The Senate voted 92-5 on Tuesday to confirm Christopher Wray to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The senators who voted against his confirmation were Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Ed Markey (D-MA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Ron Wyden (D-OR).
Wray’s confirmation comes less than two weeks after the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced his nomination on a bipartisan 20-0 vote. He previously served as the Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s criminal division during the administration of George W. Bush, and since then worked for a law firm representing clients ranging from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to Fortune 100 companies. Wray will now begin a 10-year term leading the FBI.
With Wray now confirmed as the eighth Director of the FBI, Acting Director Andrew McCabe can return to his old position as the agency’s deputy director. McCabe was elevated to the role of acting director following the dismissal of former FBI Director James Comey by President Donald Trump.

He was selected because of his past defenses of corporate and wealthy entities. This is a worrying trend when most of Trump's appointees are either scions of corporate entities or assets to corporate entities. Give power back to the people.
He doesn't sound like someone with much integrity. The White House seems to be run by the mob these days.
It looked good until his role as Christie's lawyer in the time surrounding Bridge-gate. Now I'm concerned. Lying seems to be a hallmark of most of 45's henchmen. Was he lying when he said he was loyal to upholding the constitution? Time will tell.
Looks like just another swamp creature to me.
If trump picked him then I seriously question his integrity!
The second he decides to uphold the law, he'll be fired.
He has Russian connections and worked secretly for 10 months as attorney for Christy. Paid with NJ tax dollars. Is that ethical? Our political system is broken. If it's OK for Republicans to collude with Russia is it then OK for Democrats to collude with China? Why not?
Good luck but don't unpack your bags yet.
MY GOD GOP YOU ACTUALLY ARE AIDING AND ABETTING TRUMP IN HIS SOLIDIFYING THE COUP HE IS ATTEMPTING !! YOUR BLOOD IS ON THE CONSTITUTION !!!!
We need all Republicans to stand with Democrats and protect our liberty if he shows any signs of interference with the investigation.
The guy is connected to the Russians just like everyone in the administration of the treason flavored cheeto. I am skeptical.
Donald Trump has taken irony to it's highest possible level of existence. He appointed a man who used to defend corporations to oversee a department currently investigating several businessmen. As someone who used to frequent Louisiana I can confidently say D.C. is the swampiest place I've ever seen.
Whatever you say Daffy. Of course I'll sign a loyalty pledge and kiss your ring.
Defended corporatists quite well in his career... had a questionable civil rights record to put it lightly with ties with the torture program of the Bush years... defended Chris Christie during the GW Bridge Closure trial... of course he was the pick.., of course he was confirmed by this congress. Sickening.
His old firm's association with Russian oil companies has me doubting the FBI's ability to follow through on the Russia-Trump investigation. Let's hope I'm wrong.
I hope he can stand up to Trump and follow the law. Do the right thing.
He does not report to the chief......time will tell.
Very disappointed to see a yes vote on this man. As NJ senators you have no excuse for not knowing about the bridge gate shenanigans.
For anyone that believed he would drain the swamp...looks like he's added whole layers of murkiness, quicksand and vile creatures.
We must keep our eyes on him.
