What's Congress Voting On? Week of July 17, 2017

by Countable | 7.17.17

This week the House will consider several environmental bills, and potentially an overhaul of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), while the Senate will have to wait at least another week to vote on its healthcare bill.

The House convenes Monday for a relatively light work day, with votes on bills renaming a VA facility and allowing Virginia and the District of Columbia to enter into transit agreements. Tuesday will bring a vote on a bill giving states additional time to meet the EPA's new ozone standards, while Wednesday will feature votes on a pair of energy infrastructure bills. On Thursday the House will consider bill authorizing a land exchange between the state of Alaska and the Dept. of the Interior, with a vote on the FAA bill yet to be determined.

On Monday the Senate will cast a procedural vote on the nomination of Patrick Shanahan to serve as Deputy Secretary of Defense. The Senate's schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced, but one thing that won't be on its docket this week is a vote on the Republican healthcare bill. That's because Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is recuperating at home following an operation on a blood clot, and the GOP would struggle to find the votes necessary to bring the legislation to the floor, let alone pass it, in his absence.

Check here throughout the week to see the vote results and updates to the schedule.

Schedule subject to change. All times Eastern.

America first? What hasn't this admin done; not one visit to areas devastated by wildfires and floods Not one visit to poor area hospitals, clinics to see how and who they will hurt with their health care bill No boots on the ground in these areas, no votes in the booth come November

Please vote no on HR 806 and 2883, both of which will have a negative impact on the environment. We need to take a longer view and lessen our dependence on fossil fuels and do everything we can to protect our air and water rather than thinking of short term gains for corporations. Please do everything you can to stop the border wall, stop the latest version of the new healthcare bill that's strips Medicare and removes protections for Pre-existing conditions. Lastly, I've ever been so embarrassed to call myself an American. Please do not turn a blind eye to the ignorance and corruption of the trump administration. He is reckless and childish with his words - in fact in his own tweeted words he invited Russia to interfere with our democratic process. I'm outraged that congress is sitting idly by. Please do your jobs and stop this man who is unfit by all accounts for public office.

Preventing teen pregnancy with Abstinence? "The Trump administration recently cut $213.6 million in teen pregnancy prevention programs and research at more than 80 institutions around the country, according to a Reveal report. Some grants were eliminated immediately. Other organizations were notified grant funding would end early in 2018 rather than 2020. Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and other Trump appointees advocate abstinence and oppose federal funding for birth control." Hypocrisy at its best.

Please keep me, my friends, my family, and my community safe by insuring healthcare for all. If the new bill doesn't cover everyone, do not repeal the ACA.

Postponing The vote on Trumpcare? They will keep postponing the vote until they have time to put more money into the representatives pockets so they can pass this atrocious death bill. The only reason Obama care is failing is that Congress will not fund the associated government funding. Trump would rather give big tax breaks to billionaires than see that Americans can go to see a doctor. TRUMPCARE = NO REELECTION FOR ANYBODY SUPPORTING TRUMPCARE!!!!

So the vote on Healthcare has been postponed due to a health care issue for John McCain. Think about this if you would. McConnell has postponed a vote on healthcare so someone using their Congressional healthcare can be there to vote to deny millions healthcare. HOW is that okay?

Do not repeal the ACA. Certainly do not replace it with "Trumpcare". That policy will murder people. Don't murder people; it's the least we should expect from our representatives!

Trump wants to trim the fed budget by cutting funding for west coast early warning earthquake program. I don't see a good reason for scrapping this tech ( unless he doesn't understand it ). Please be sensible or explain the "nyet ".

What a joke, make products in USA. No body in the trump family has their products manufactured in USA. They don't care about the small man. It's all about the almighty dollar. They should support people like the ones trying to compete against the imported shrimp that are undercutting our family run businesses

The two energy related bills being considered by the house will delay incorporating renewable energy sources. Please begin to think about our children's future. Mr. Rubio must consider the detrimental effect of the proposed senate healthcare bill and vote NO. Fix the ACA and stop playing politics with healthcare, Medicare and social. Security
