Both TexASS Senators respond immediately with an automated "Thank You" acknowledging the message. Usually that is followed by a carefully worded note that says, "Your opinion is very valuable. We will pat your woolly head. Now Go Away!"
Form letter that say they "appreciate" your in put....But they will vote however they want. The tone us dismissive and arrogant.
Agree with Pete. I get form letters from Cruz and Cronyn stating it is an honor to represent Texans in the Senate. They are honored to represent me but not too motivated to listen to me. My Congressman, on the other hand, writes detailed letters addressing my concerns and questions. My Rep is Will Hurd, a Republican, who still answers questions. I frequently disagree with him but he listens. One of his aides has even asked me to call and discuss my concerns.
All of my representatives send a form email thinking me for emailing them. Usually there is a follow up email explaining that my opinion "is important" and explaining why they voted how they voted in a condescending manner that makes it clear that my email urging them to vote in exactly the opposite way was never read. The email assumes that I agreed with the representative. They really should at least go to the effort to mock up two emails: one for those who agreed with their vote and one for those who disagreed. At least make us feel like you took our disagreement seriously even if you don't give a rats patootie. Sheesh.
Very lucky to live in Oregon and be represented by 4 representatives and 2 senators all GREAT Democrats!
I'm a Democrat in one of the reddest counties in Texas. The staff at my rep, Kevin Brady's, local office used to literally laugh at me when I called -- I stopped calling. No point. His only "town hall" this year has been speaking to the local ladies Repub club. He doesn't feel beholden to speak to *anyone* else, and barely even them. I hate his guts.
I would probably fall over dead if my senators actually responded to me. I must fax them or call them or send emails many times a week and nary a reply. I feel like they are good for nothing sacks of shit. My representative at least sends the form letter.
I get the responses from Congressman Doggett. Senators Cornyn & Cruz replied "Thank you for contact my office" but don't respond me what they stand or what they want to say.
Ted Cruz does respond, but it is always with a form letter basically stating his position and having no direct response to my concerns or questions. I do not hear from Cornyn nor Marchant
Both Texas senators have an instant auto reply so I know they are receiving my message. Have received nothing from Kevin Brady!
All of my elected officials who get my emails respond first with a reply about receiving it. Then, they follow up with what is usually a thoughtful response to my concern. Although they usually act in antithesis to my own concerns, at least they acknowledge them. At least that part I appreciate. Although they say they want to act for their constituents, they seem to forget that there many of us who did not vote for them and they are supposed to be representing us, too. Plus, the political field is changing due to the administration's continuing ridiculous bad behavior. Our elected officials would do well to recognize this and separate themselves from him.
Another Texan here who gets the automated response from Countable contacts from Cruz and Cornyn. Bonus ick points to Cruz for signing me up for his atrociously smarmy smug newsletter. I have called Cornyn's office and talked to polite but bored aides. Not a single response in any form from that. Judge John Carter never replied to any form of contact and I call his office in DC weekly. I have provided different email addresses for the different methods of contact I use so I can track what they are responding to when they respond and Countable is the only contact method i am seeing any response to. Also we do have a potential alternative to Cruz -Beto O'Roarke. Check him out.
I hear from Congressman Hurd fairly consistently; Senators Cornyn and Cruz send automated responses (thank you for contacting our office, etc.), but no real in-depth response.
I get the immediate form letter that I don't bother reading for the most part. I did read one from my representative that was thanks for the email - I'm going to ignore what you wrote, since I talked to the three people who agreed with me and not the large number who don't - so screw you. This weasel refuses to hold town meetings - only meetings in his office (so he can heavily control the situation and intimidate most people). He has been there since the days of Bush the Lesser, since he rarely has any opposition whatsoever.
The KY "gang" send the same form letter sometimes, not all the time. McConnell occasionally sends his form letter. Maybe the administrative assistant does it all? I have actually talked to a person twice I all the phone calls with no response. McConnell won't even let anyone leave a message in DC but you can in his lexington office. Sigh.
They do respond, however, many of the responses are bot responses, some are not even relevant to my comment
I get automated message from my Texas reps Cruz, Cronyn, and Burgess. Never hear another word from them. No town halls from any of them. They are working for themselves, not the State of Texas, and not for America.
I get the standard form letter and they just quote the number of the bill and at the end of the letter,I still don't know what they are thinking. I really think it's just a bunch of interns dealing with any of these votes. Our reps don't care what we think,as long as they are reaping the federal government perks and pay.
Of the 3 that are there for me 1 has called me back. One is never going to lift a finger for me. The last one is so far away from me that I am sure that they don't see the need to acknowledge I live.
Neither the senators nor the reps respond in any meaningful way. Always form letters, often just telling us the "great" things they are doing. Barely worth trying to contact them really!
