The Daily Countable: Take Action Today!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28, 2017

Good morning, CountaPeeps!

The Senate health care vote is delayed and some folks are cheering. Don’t count your chickens too soon. The House delayed and still got it done. It’s not over until it’s over.

Meanwhile, border wall plans are proceeding, the 2018 budget process stumbles along, there’s no agreement on the debt limit, and what was that about tax reform?

The President: IN WASHINGTON

  • Today President Trump will lead a tribal, local and State energy roundtable at the White House

  • This afternoon he’ll host a meet and greet with the Chicago Cubs, and then meet with folks who were victims of crimes perpetrated by immigrants. He’s hoping to advance legislation as a result.

  • This evening he’ll give remarks at the Republican National Committee dinner which is being held...at the Trump International Hotel.

The House of Representatives: IN SESSION

  • Voting on a bill to reform medical malpractice lawsuits involving federally subsidized care.

  • Voting on a bill to name a park in Washington, D.C. as "Robert Emmet Park."

The Senate: IN SESSION

  • Debating the nomination of Neomi Rao to be the OMB’s Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

What to Watch

  • The Senate Intelligence Committee is holding a hearing this morning, 10 AM EDT, about Russian interference in European elections. Watch it here.

Don’t be distracted by the hype, CountaFam! You’re smarter than that.

"Perception is strong and sight weak. In strategy it is important to see distant things as if they were close and to take a distanced view of close things."— Miyamoto Musashi

Why is it that the U.S. can afford an excessively expensive border wall, but cannot afford to care for our poor and elderly who need health care. The priorities are backwards. America first means lifting up the poor, disabled and elderly, not spending our tax dollars on a pointless wall and giving thousands of dollars in tax credits to the 400 wealthiest Americans! The GOP continues to demonstrate disgust and hatred towards the most vulnerable Americans. Since when is that the value of America? It makes our country far less great and inferior to other countries like Canada! Please oppose, senators! Get rid of the tax credits to the rich, leave the cap for seniors at 3x's as much, not 5x's as much as a younger healthier person, leave the subsidies for the poor, and don't allow redefining of essential benefits! Medicaid expansion funding needs to be left alone as does Medicaid funding. Family planning clinic funding should be left alone. Boost the economy and stop spending money on increased defense spending at America's expense! Making America sicker and poorer makes America far less safe!

Healthcare should be a right, not another thing that poor people can't access. The arguments within the Republican Party are unbelievable, it's not conservative enough, it's too conservative. The bottom line is that the 1% will get more and people on the lower end will die for it. Please resist this. I'll, please keep fighting to let the poor, disabled and elderly keep their lifesaving insurance.

Please vote no on Trumpcare. My son will lose his Medicaid which allows him to take Suboxone and take his medication for his bipolar.

Get a handle on King Herod and his Roman Senators before they have the chance to to sacrifice the lives and futures of any more innocent. Of the 22 million that stand to lose the only healthcare the majority are children, and a overwhelming percentage are under the age of 3. Children under the age of three being targeted by a narcissistic politician and his sociopathic comrades, starting to sound familiar? Good, now send them all in the opposite direction of any legislative action that will do more damage and lead them on a wild goose chase to .... hmmm... How about North Korea? Sounds fair.

And in the midst of this terribly challenging and worrisome week, our President still finds the time to crank out a string of spiteful and inaccurate tweets and to make yet more money by feeding the Republican National Committee... at Trump International Hotel. Congress lets him do it, and his voters let CONGRESS do it. The rest of us shouldn't exhaust ourselves by feigning surprise.

This is rich. Let our citizens die so we can build an needless wall. Let our citizens die so the wealthy can roll around in more money. What in God's name are you people thinking? You are obviously without a sense of humanity or you could not support this bill. You people are spitting at every American value I have ever stood for. Stand up for America for a change!

For Sen.Tomey: it looks like you might get another chance to let people die while your big money backers stuff their pockets with more money than they could ever spend in a couple of lifetimes.
