It's time to fully fund the VA. Also, add a provision to the next defense spending bill to prefund the care of Veterans as a cost of military activity. There things that veterans need that only the VA can provide.
I have 2 uncles who use the VA and are very pleased with their medical care. Fix where it’s needed. Not the global perception that the whole system is bad. Fire those who are failing in their care or supervision. My daughter works with a brutal, lazy supervisor in a dialysis unit and there is no accountability. Hire more if there are shortages. This is a management issue.
Secretary Robert McDonald has done a great job with the VA. I am a third generation Veteran and I can tell you from experience that things are a lot better for me than my dad who was Vietnam vet. But, there is always room for employment.
We need to fix healthcare for all, not merely enough special interest groups to sway the vote. Must our preschool children 👶 go to war in order to receive adequate, responsible healthcare?
This can only be fixed when those who engage our military from the beginning to adequately advance funds to last forty years after the engagements. This will cover war funds for the engagement and the funds for all health care afterwards. It is easy for congress or the president to call for action by our military but it is another thing to care for the veterans for up to forty years after the war. First step is what are you going to do on the last step and how do we pay for that.
It's far past time to fix the VA. It needs to be completely gutted and start from scratch. In the interim our veterans should be permitted to seek healthcare from civilian healthcare providers of the veterans' choosing.
Taking care of the brave men & women who have sacrificed so much for this country should be a top priority. There are many dedicated and skilled professionals who are serving our vets through the VA but both our veterans and the people serving them deserve better than what they are currently getting
Our veterans deserve the full backing of the American people. As such greater funding should be provided for VA programs. Better to use tax money to help heroes than to build a wall!
Time to up your game. Use more computer literate Programs to get these programs into the hands of the vets that need them lucky they survive the wars and the battles so let’s see if they can survive the health care
Why is this even a question??? Unless the point is to do it by privatization then I say hell no, not that way. Take some of the $ the pentagon gets and give it to the VA. In fact, take it all so there doesn’t have to be a humongous military “hammer” that Trump and the congress keep looking for nails to use it on.
If you want to “fix” the VA clean up Congress and the top management at the VA who keep screwing things up. Stop cutting funding to mental health care, make sure VAs are fully staffed with the front line staff they need and allow them to modernize buildings and equipment that is sorely needed! Finally stop trash talking this great historic institution and remember 30-40% of VA staff are Veterans so when you bad mouth the VA you are also bad mouthing the same people the VA provides care for. Praise goes a long way especially those who have staffed the VA during years of neglect by Congress. If America can spend Trillions of dollars supporting all of these wars then they better be will to support the young men and women they send to fight those wars. Proud Daughter of a VETERAN!!!!
No tax cuts for the 1%ers and cut military spending by 10%. Give these savings to the VA so they can hire more competent people and provide better service to our Veterans.
How many more years must this go on? Let’s make that big step of paying for veteran care wherever they want to go. A little competition would be good for the VA.
I have fantastic care at my VA in Asheville NC and I want any problems for other vets fixed..but don't even think about privatizing the VA..help the vets get all they deserve, but don't screw us..the tax reform for the middle class is screwing us enough..we don't need more woes.
This agency has never lived up to the expectations and requirements of its most important beneficiaries veterans due to a systemic lack of funding. If we care about our veterans then we must see to their healthcare even if that means offsetting Defense spending to cover the cost.
Please clean out the bureaucracy & increase accountability sohat you can sink the dollars into better health care & research on how to prevent injury & more effectively repair those that are unpreventable. It is asad fact that war is the precipitant for most of your health advances since well before Galen Strapped the gladiators back together to fight again another day. sports as civilized war practice hasn't given as much help advancing health as has war.
Politicians are millionaires. And, they’re OK with such a broken system? That’s disgusting. Kinda makes me wonder why people volunteer for military service, meaning that they’re willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Uh Keri, maybe you should withdraw your comment. It's not really germane to this topic.
The only problem the VA has is republican intentions to cut funding. The VA is just trying to keep vets alive and they are the best at it.

I’ve had great care from the VA as 100% service connected Vet I receive all of my care through the VA
