What's Congress Voting On? Week of June 19, 2017

by Countable | 6.19.17

The House will convene on Tuesday to consider 14 suspension bills, including several aimed at improving services for youth in foster care, various reforms at Homeland Security, and promoting the role of women in resolving international conflicts. Suspension bills are generally uncontroversial pieces of legislation that need the support of at least three-fifths of the lawmakers in the House to pass, and are often approved by voice vote. The remainder of the House's week will feature votes on bills to ensure reliable electricity while protecting forests, reform career and technical education, and let states use grants for pilot projects that subsidize the wages of those receiving food stamps.

The Senate gets a head start on its colleagues in the lower chamber this week by convening on Monday to vote on the confirmation of Brock Long to be Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Its schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced.

Regarding TrumpCare healthcare Bill, No hearings, no transparency, no bill. There should be no vote until bill affecting all Americans' health & 1/6 of economy is fully vetted. Do not vote for tax cuts for the wealthy over healthcare for all of our citizens.

In regards to the secret Republican meetings to draft new health care legislation, the country you reportedly represent doesn't want it. Here's a partial list of organizations that have come out against it: When is "everyone" going to get to weigh in on this bill when McConnell has told all of the concerned parties that he is "too busy" to meet with them? The health care bill being discussed behind closed doors is a horrible, people killing bill. Proof is the fact of the secrecy. If it was decent, they wouldn't be hiding it.

Senators, majority of all Americans want ACA improved or more coverage under ACHA! Healthcare for Americans over health care lobbyists! Do the right thing or lose GOP respect forever! Transparency is only fair. Do not support tax cuts for wealthy as we must protect Americas middle class. GOP must put Americans well being over everything. Or you will all go down with Trump as worst GOP House, Senate and corrupt Presidency in American history!

    1) Keep ACA. No need to change health care just support and strengthen ACA. 2) Impeach tRump. Obstruction of justice. Abuse of power. 3) real Investigation into Russia attacking USA election snd tRump collusion is essential. Independent commission needed. 4) While you are about it- how about the 200 million voter records left open and unsecured on the internet- easy dead drop by GOP for the Russians to use data with their trolls and bots? Investigate that too. Too many alarming events like this. 5) Direction of this country is basically disarray on both foreign and domestic matters. I guess that makes PutIn happy. tRump and GOP too cozy with Russia. What a disaster the GOP has created. Tragic for America. America- a once great nation with values and valiant struggles always toward better human rights- now - thanks to rRump and GOP - is a major dumpster fire w/despot dictator egomaniac flapping off about his half-baked ideas and selling-off USA to fill up tRump accounts with gold and oil money. Every thing is being done for PutIn and tRump for personal power and money. Criminal. Corrupt to the core.

The United States Republican led Senate is going to stuff their secret health care down our throats by the 4th of Jul, when of course, they recess. America, we cannot let this happen. In addition to the slash and burn of Obamacare, they have included a healthy tax break for the uber rich i.e. Trump. Our poor citizens will back to the pre ACA era. The middle class will pay for everything and the rich will be flying to the Cayman Islands to check in their fatter accounts. This is the kind of behavior that we Americans are sick of. Now they are running ads that are pure lies to intimidate those Republican senators who may revolt ie Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski. We need to contact them and let them know they have our support. We need to reward government that does the right thing for its people. We absolutely need Universal healthcare in America. Those countries that have it are blessed with healthier citizens at a fraction of what we pay. Do not be fooled by this health care bill. It is not. It is a "I am rich and therefore I get to shit on you" bill

You must oppose and make more public the GOP efforts to sneak their health care bill through without anyone noticing. This bill is a travesty and must be stopped at all costs.

We the people need to know what is in the proposed health care bill. You Republicans broke ACA and are now promoting a bill that only a few know what it contains. You should have fixed the ACA. When will you ever get past your party interests and work for the people? We need open hearings now.

All of America want to know what is in and what is out if the ACA and we want an opportunity to voice our opinion before you vote. Do not just say it is better, tell me why it is better. You have lost the trust of America.

Please vote against decreasing COLA for federal retirees while this administration is trying to pass several bills to benefit Trump and wealthy. The secret healthcare bill which surprisingly several Republicans are supporting is appalling. They seem only interested in winning where millions will lose their insurance and Trump and his cronies benefit. They should all have to use this insurance if it is so good. I want to keep my insurance through FEHB and also pay for Medicare B. Trump promised not to touch Medicare or Social Security but he supports only benefits for self and wealthy. He was elected to benefit all and not just himself and his foreign investments.

I am asking (and asking and asking) that Tennessee Senators do not vote this week or next week on Trumpcare. The Affordable Care Act can be modified without destroying healthcare coverage for millions of Americans. Also, essential benefits must stay in place. Everyone, especially those who pay for insurance through employers or ACA deserve essential benefits, lower deductibles and copays. The insurance companies have the funds to line the pockets of our representatives, but not the funds to cover our healthcare?!? It is beyond comprehension to others around the world that we have such a broken healthcare system!

I cannot believe how dishonest and outrageous your party especially this so called secretive committee, is. You have proven that you no longer care about your constituents and the people of this country. This "death and bankruptcy bill" is no health care bill. How do face your families knowing you are deliberately harming families, kids, the sick, elderly. Do not say you care but you have to watch the budget because that is false. You only care about yourselves. It's disgusting. And you wonder while people are angry. Look what happened last week. It could have been much worse, God Forbid. If there is more it will make you complacent ! Are you prepared for that? Yes I am mad. And disappointed that your party has become so callous and uncaring. You must vote NO ON THIS BILL. It is immoral. NOW DO YOUR JOB AND DO WHAT WE WANT YOU TO. HAVE SOME BACKBONE. IMPROVE THE ACA, not destroy it. And if you won't, we will find someone that will. STAND UP TO MITCH McCONNELL AND TRUMP

The senate GOP should present their ideas on healthcare to the public before a vote. Hiding it suggests they are not proud of their plan, and it's concerning to voters that it may be catering to special interests and upending their health coverage without their knowledge.
