What's Congress Voting On? Week of June 12, 2017

by Countable | 6.12.17

The House will convene on Monday to consider a bill to prioritize federal job training programs for the energy and manufacturing industries, in addition to a number of bills related to hydroelectric project permits. On Tuesday, it will consider a bill the Senate passed last week to expand accountability at the VA and protect whistleblowers. It will then consider bills as part of the third phase of the GOP's three-pronged effort to repeal and replace Obamacare, including bills to ensure veterans are eligible for premium assistance tax credits and reform medical malpractice suits involving federally subsidized care.

The Senate kicks things off on Monday by continuing debate on bill to expand sanctions on Iran for its ballistic missile program, support for terrorism, and human rights abuses. It'll also vote to confirm Kenneth Rapuano to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense. The rest of the upper chamber's schedule is yet to be announced, but Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee in an open session Tuesday.

Do not vote for repeal and replacement of Obamacare. Take more time to work with your Republican colleagues to repeal and replace Trump. The process of impeaching Trump should be your highest priority before he does irreparable damage. It is no longer about politics, it is a matter of saving our Democracy.

You must vote NO to Trumpcare!!! A committee of 12 men meeting in secret & trying to push through so called healthcare bill quietly, without input from colleagues across the aisle, a CBO score & without public debate is NOT the way to do this!!!! A bill that affects every single American & 1/6 the economy is to important to be playing party politics!!! Shouldn't the goal be to insure MORE Americans, not throw 23 million currently insured off their insurance?? Once again allowing insurance companies to rule our countries healthcare, to say who will & won't be covered, slash essential benefits & once again enact yearly & life time caps is NOT the way forward!!! Slashing medicaid & dismantling current protections for pre-existing conditions is NOT the way!!! Huge tax breaks for the top 1% is NOT the way!!! The amount of federal funding for this plan is woefully inadequate & won't begin to cover the amount needed to protect those who need it the most!!! Only 17% of Americans were in favor of house bill& the bill the senate is trying to sneak through is essentially the same- how can you justify to your constituents a yes vote that will cause such devastation not only on the health of Americans, but on the economy? The American people are demanding the Senate puts country above party, puts their constituents ahead of insurance companies & the wealthiest 1% in the country!! Do not delude yourselves into thinking you can sneak this through while the other chaos rains down on us. The amount of federal & state $ required for this bill that ends up with tens of millions MORE Americans uninsured, Medicare for ALL could be enacted & actually cost us all LESS, take insurance companies & their enormous profits out of the equation & EVERY American would have the healthcare they need! It is the ONLY way forward. Do not put us, the people in a game of perpetual healthcare ping pong where the entire system is thrown into chaos every time the other party takes power. We ARE PAYING. ATTENTION SENATORS!!! You must vote NO to AHCA. You might be the ones voting now but remember, WE WILL BE VOTING in 2018 & 2020 & we are demanding better!!!

What Congress should be voting on this week: Forcibly removing Donald J. Trump from office. This is going to be my comment basically every week. He is mentally unfit for office and every day does irreparable damage to the United States.

No repeal of Obamacare without the Republicans considering the effect on our lives. It is criminal to leave people without health coverage.

Please do not vote for the new healthcare act. It will not help America and our most vulnerable citizens. You have not had a hearing with the full Senate. Dems can't make suggestions if they can't see the bill. This is too important to take away from us. Poor people don't want choices for healthcare they need help paying for it. Do not vote for this bill.

Do NOT vote for the AHCA. It is not for the greater good. All people deserve health care and we need a single payer system plain and simple. Start supporring women's rights and quit lefislating what women can do with their own bodies.

I'm loathe to believe the political cartoons and articles I'm seeing that say The GOP is "working" behind closed doors to wrecking ball the ACA. How dishonest, sneaky and disreputable is that? As if the GOP has not done enough to damage their shaken reputation, add this to the growing list of dirty politics. It is certainly not being done for the good of the people!

Expanding retraining in the area of green energy is essential. Not only will it teach skills to those unemployed due to the obsolescence of coal, it will also give public support and impetus to renewable green energy plans. Vote against the "trumpcare bill", the reasons have been put forth ad nausem.

Universal healthcare ! And before I hear another BS story like Rand Pauls about why this won't work - explain better why it does work in several other successful countries and admit greed is the primary reason it's not being considered here.

Please vote no on Trumpcare. Without a solid process of comments and amendments and hearings, the new healthcare biil will be a disaster for 1/6 of the economy. The Aca is not perfect but we should be focused on fixing it not blowing it up.

No to repeal of ACA. No to Trumpcare. Hands off Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, unless it's to expand to single payer choice that covers all.
