Trump Travels, Health Care Bill Unravels and the Budget Debate Rages On

by Countable | 5.24.17

The Daily Countable: Take Action Today!

WEDNESDAY, MAY 24

Good morning, CountaCitizens!

Due to differences in time zones, the day’s excitement for President Trump is already nearly over, but never fear. Congress should keep us all busy today. The Congressional Budget Office is scheduled to release their score of the House GOP health care bill today and debate is still raging about the President’s 2018 budget.

There’s never a dull moment in Washington. Repetitive, maddening, comical and tragic, perhaps, but never, ever dull. Let’s get to it!

The President: Italy and Belgium

  • The President and First Lady began the day in Rome, touring the Vatican and enjoying a personal audience with the Pope. See short footage of the public portion of their meeting here.

  • President Trump then met with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni of Italy.

  • The President and First Lady will arrive in Brussels, Belgium around 10 AM EDT for Trump’s bi-lateral talks with Prime Minister Charles Michel of Belgium.

The House of Representatives: IN SESSION

  • Voting on a bill to force federal agencies to reduce the use of full Social Security numbers on mailed documents to reduce identity theft.

  • Voting on a bill related to remove the need for a permit to discharge pesticides into waterways.as long as the pesticide is used in accordance with federal regulations.

  • Voting on three other suspension bills.

The Senate: IN SESSION

  • Voting on the nomination of John Sullivan to be Deputy Secretary of State.

What to Watch

  • The Senate Intelligence Committee sent former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn two new subpoenas yesterday after Flynn declined to honor their first one. Watch for more drama as media speculate whether Flynn will try to avoid the Committee any longer, or if the Committee gives in and grants him immunity to compel his testimony and document submissions.

Be strong, CountaFam! We’re all counting on you.

The proposed budget & healthcare bill will be a disaster for most Americans except for the wealthy. They will have a ripple effect through the heart of America that will become a tsunami in the voting booth. Do your job & protect your constituents, not just the wealthy.

Question is why are you as representatives of the people allowing this mean spirited and corrupt administration the ability to set the agenda? When this Russian loving poor leadership racist inadequate administration publishes or places their garbage on the table simply reject it if it does not benefit the people you represent in your districts. It is time for all this fake cabinet/administration rhetoric to be stifled and put into its proper receptacle i.e.. the garbage. Keep your focus on your constituents and their needs and adversities and not the needs and fake adversities that this freak show administration who is aligned with Russia and the wealthy of this country. It is time that you represent your constituents and put a stop to this unadulterated attack on our government and our democracy. Do your job or we will get someone who will.

Trump at the very least represents an oligarchy, at the most, represents a dictator-wanna be. We can't let his agenda kill democracy for all Americans. Please fight back for us all.

23 million people will loose healthcare, some people's premiums may go down but people with preexisting conditions may experience massive increases, so says the CBO. Back to the drawing board gentlemen because this isn't even close. Why can't we have a similar healthcare plan as Japan? Are you afraid of the insurance companies? Congressman Sanford I saw your interview on MSNBC and you skirted many of the important issues. Gentlemen, I've heard so much hot air from the Republicans and have seen nothing from you worth getting excited about. Start completely over and consider the plans of other nations.

This budget, like all of Mr. Trump's legislation will only help the wealthy. He and his followers are destroying our country.

I need someone to explain why were moving backwards on health safety and environment? To reduce spending in these areas just to add to the military budget seems wrong to me. We're making the future worse for the next generations.

Trump has a condition called Borderline Personality Disorder. He has all of the symptoms and needs medication.Narcissistic, angry emotional instability, insecurity are just a few of the symptoms. Psychotherapy and medication is needed. Therefore how can we expect a person with psychological problems to run a government. Now we have to question our own insanity because he was elected. Budget, health care what do you expect?

Donald Trump touts himself as a successful businessman, but many of his business endeavors end with unpaid vendors, partners left in the ditch, real estate white elephants, and bankruptcies with the road scattered with disasters while Trump blithely takes the money and goes on his way. Now he's got America as his playing field and appears to be dismantling and destroying it as headlessly as he did his businesses. His budget, health proposals and executive order show clearly Trump Doesn't Care

This is a joke. Let's take money from poor and middle class folks and give it to the wealthy who don't. Are these clowns brazen, or what?

Please note that 51M uninsured by 2026 is 7M worse than before Obamacare went into effect. It's not even back to what we had. This bill is a preposterous tax cut for the rich disguised as a health care bill. We MUST fight this. VOTE NO.

When will Congress get off their entitled butts and stand for America. Let's all give a resounding cheer for the revised health care plan. Will only leave 23 million uninsured. It will allow states to opt out of insuring those with preexisting conditions. Don't you just love states rights? CA & NY may be OK but Texans are cooked. The good news is that the tax cut for the rich is intact. Aren't you just proud to be an American today? Speaking of DJT, whose side is he on? First he tells confidential info to the Russians. Then he reveals to the Israelis that he never mentioned Israel by name. Well, at least no one knows who leaked info--Wrong!!! We have placed an important ally at risk and thereby putting USA at risk. His next adventure was to call President Duterte and congratulate him on the masterful job he is doing with the drug problem. Just saying, this guy rejoiced in the fact that he has murdered about 8000 of his countrymen. At any event, DJT bragging, as usual, the that the US was sending 2 nuclear submarines to North Korea. Way to go, Donny. Also, DJT is a mean-spirited expletive deleted. No fan of Sean Spicer but he is a devout Catholic who was excited to meet Pope Francis. Trump would not let him. Allowed offficials more junior to Spicer to meet the Pope but not Spicer. Guess he is being punished for Trump's big mouth. Finally, Mulvaney answered a Congresswoman who claimed the proposed budget was a slap to the poor. He claimed that it would save money and he didn't want to leave his unborn grandchildren with a 3 trillion dollar debt. Don't think he will have to worry about that. DJT and minions have slashed the EPA to shreds. With all the pollution and global warming coming our way, none of us will survive long enough to produce grandchildren.
