The U.S. military conducted a new round of airstrikes on Syrian forces believed to be allied with President Bashar al-Assad. The Strikes hit Tanf, a town in southern Syria, and were meant to hold back Syrian fighters as they approached American troops, according to these statements from the Coalition Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, or CJTF-OIR:
Military leaders explained the new strikes this way, according to the Los Angeles Times:
U.S. commanders became concerned when they saw tanks, bulldozers and other heavy equipment advance into a "de-confliction" zone without authorization near a base where U.S. forces were located, according to the officials, who spoke about the incident after requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
It was not clear if the advancing forces were Syrian army troops or other pro-government allies, but they were flying Syrian flags and began constructing berms and fighting positions, officials said.

Let's keep our eyes on cleaning up our stench filled presidency first. No to military action unless Congress approves
No damn war! I don't trust #45!!!
What is legal basis? For these strikes? There must be some rationale and some Sane sensible people forming a strategy. Congress should approve it should not be ad-hoc. Is tRump using dangerous military action to deflect and distract from his legal troubles? You folks in D.C. Need to get you act together on this.
Trump now killing people in a country that never attacked us, all in cynical ploy to save his skin, without authorization from Congress. In addition to all his other crimes, he now adds murder and war crimes to his rap sheet.
Glad we are still protecting our troops. Read the post people.
After doing some research on this issue, it appears that the troops we attacked was a pro-Syrian force and not Syrian troops. This issue as stated here is not complete. The order to attack was given from the field commander and not the White House!
Another attempt to divert attention from the domestic mess that is our Administration?
NO MILITARY ACTIONS IN SYRIA WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM CONGRESS! This President would do anything to distract from his investigative troubles!
Congressional approval is needed to start a war. Nice diversion from what's going on here.
Good,it's about time we took them out.
This is Illegal!!!!!!!! Stop these damn wars, you F'ing idiots!!!!!!!!!!
You know this is a distraction right?? right?
If it is to protect US or allied groups, I am supportive of military action. I am more supportive of no fly zones and permanently grounding all Syrian aircraft. However, since there is nothing coming out of Washington that is credible, I find it increasingly more difficult to support this administration in its military strategies.
Stop this now. Do not allow a president under investigation to start a conflict.
I assure you Trump likely learned about the air strikes from watching Fox News. What he can expect after delegating authority to the generals. As for the attacks, it as a defensive measure to protect OUR troops. Let's not spin up another conspiracy theory calling it an act to distract.
Take them out! Period.
So we just bomb people whenever we get a little frightened now? "Those people are flying Syrian flags and getting too close us. We don't know what they're doing, so let's bomb them!"
Mr. Trump starting a war with Syria will not save you and your presidency.
Bomb the Assad regime out of existence!!! There is no question about his intent!
