The Senate will be in sole possession of the spotlight on Capitol Hill, with their colleagues in the House back home on a district work week.

On Monday, the Senate will vote on the confirmation of Heather Wilson to be Secretary of the Air Force. It will then debate the nomination of Scott Gottlieb to be Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Senate's schedule for the balance of the week is yet to be announced.

Tuesday

  • Confirmation vote on the nomination of Scott Gottlieb to be FDA Commissioner Confirmed 57-42.

Wednesday

  • H.J.Res. 36: Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the final rule of the Bureau of Land Management relating to "Waste Prevention, Production Subject to Royalties, and Resource Conservation". Motion to proceed failed 51-49.

Thursday

  • Cloture vote on the nomination of Robert Lighthizer to be U.S. Trade Representative Invoked 81-15.
  • Confirmation vote on the nomination of Robert Lighthizer to be U.S. Trade Representative Confirmed 82-14.

Friday

  • Cloture vote on the nomination of Jeffrey Rosen to be Deputy Secretary of Transportation
