THURSDAY, MAY 4

Health Care vote today! Maybe! Probably!

Yes folks, House Republican leaders say they now have the votes to pass their latest version of a "repeal and replace" bill. This after months of stuttering progress in negotiations that have laid bare the wide rifts among Congressional Republicans.

IF the bill does finally come to the House floor today, and IF it passes, Leaders will certainly claim a great success -- before jetting out of town for a week-long recess. BUT here’s something that should temper their excitement: many in the Senate say they have no intention of even starting their version with the same blueprint as the House bill. And given the enormous difficulty House leaders had in getting their own members to vote for it, a new Senate version isn’t likely to win people over very easily.

The President: IN WASHINGTON & NEW YORK CITY

  • Meets with Catholic Cardinals & Leaders

  • Signs Executive Order "Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty" (see What to Watch)

  • Flies to NYC, meets with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull of Australia

  • Gives remarks commemorating WWII "Battle of the Coral Sea"

The House of Representatives: IN SESSION

The Senate: IN SESSION

What to Watch

Another big day in Washington! Don’t forget to call your Reps and find out if they’re voting your way on the new health care bill. Take Action!

Vote NO. A yes vote leaves millions of people with preexisting conditions and the elderly unable to afford healthcare. If you vote yes then you should remove congress from the being exempt from these exclusions.

This health care bill would take away health care from millions of Americans, and it would cut the Medicaid program. The proposed amendments would allow states to shut out people with pre-existing conditions. Not to mention pregnancy would cost 452% more under this new health plan compared to Obamacare. Money for high-risk pools that segregate the sick into higher cost plans will not solve this problem. PLEASE VOTE NO ON THIS BILL!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do everything you can to make sure the ACA revision is NOT passed. This is a disastrous injury-in-the-making for hard-working Americans. Now even the employer plans are subject to changes.

I cannot believe that the GOP is so bound and determined to get this Health Care disaster passed, seemingly more out of an 8-year campaign promise than passing a morally valid piece of legislation. I urge you to WALK AWAY from partisan party desperation, and vote NO on this bill. Please, do what HELPS us instead of causing more harm.

Vote NO on any bill that would repeal our access to healthcare, or give insurance companies the option to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, or that would kick millions off healthcare. Fight for universal healthcare in this county instead!

As a medical leader I urge you NOT TO SUPPORT any bill that weakens protections for people who have actual medical needs and preexisting conditions. Building unpredictability into healthcare creates true disease and expense for people seeking and receiving care. The most powerful health and fiscal intervention Congress can make is to build predictability and continuity into our healthcare delivery system. The AHCA proposal disrupts predictability, frees insurance companies and states to support inequity and promote disease for the "high risk pool" members (which puts everyone...including hospitals and medical businesses at risk), and is not adequately funded no matter how much $8 billion might seem. California's Medicaid budget alone is over $100 Billion. AHCA's poorly funded, highly variable, limited insurance policies that are tied to market-based insecurity introduces disease encouraging, increasingly deadly, poor policy, that will be a devastatingly BAD REFLECTION ON your ability to protect the American people. Do not vote for this faulty concept for healthcare or you will be held accountable....simply by looking at the cruel realities that will result.

This healthcare bill is far worse than the other bill that was withdrawn. It is more money for the wealthy and health insurance companies. Vote NO!

Congressman Denham, please consider your constituents. Don't just vote the party line. I implore you, if the new healthcare is such a great deal and the people should have it, then congress MUST use it too. Show us you have our interests in mind. You represent US! Vote NO on Trumpcare

Vote against the AHCA!! You'll be branding you and your party with a bad bill that you know nothing about! How many will it cover? What's the cost? What about Rural hospitals and the uninsured? Looks like insurance for the young and healthy. Perfect for your big insurance lobby. It has never been your intent to cover all Americans. Your intent was to cut taxes for the very wealthy. It's been that way since Reagan. Higher premiums for the sick and old, along with letting States decide pre existing conditions. Our children see the difference in Gods way and the republicans way. AGAIN VOTE NO TO AHCA!

I am deeply concerned about reports that the House is voting on Healthcare bill today before receiving a CBO score. When this legislation came up earlier in the year, you pledged not to vote until this nonpartisan analysis was complete. Are you pledging to do so this time around as well? Please do not vote yes in the name of hasty partisanship that will have drastic consequences in the lives of way too many Americans. Please consider that healthcare is NOT a political issue and I implore you not to treat it as such.
