‘Stand for the Second’: Students Stage Pro-Second Amendment Walkouts
Join us and tell your reps how you feel!
What’s the story?
- Students at schools across the nation are planning walkouts on Wednesday in support of their Second Amendment rights.
Why does it matter?
- Stand for the Second comes on the heels of a number of high-profile marches and demonstrations in support of stricter gun laws following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
- Will Riley, a New Mexico high-school student, organized today’s rally with the help of the Tea Party Patriots Citizen Fund.
"I'm watching the news and I see they're saying 'Well we have to do something about this. We have to enact some sort of gun control legislation because this is what the kids are asking for.' And I'm thinking, 'I'm not asking for that,'" Riley said. "I look at my friends and I think 'They're not asking for that.'”
- Riley said the 16-minute walkout will help “give a voice to all of the people who feel that they're being misrepresented by the media.”
