Committee Watch: The Human Toll of Turkey’s Aggression, Terror Threats to the Homeland, and the Future of Boeing’s 737 MAX

Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

TUESDAY
- The Senate Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee will hold a hearing titled “Aviation Safety and the Future of Boeing’s 737 MAX”. 10am
- The House Armed Services Committee will hold a Future Defense Task Force hearing on “Theories of Victory”. 10am
- The House Education & Labor Committee will hold a markup hearing on the College Affordability Act. 10:15am
WEDNESDAY
- The House Homeland Security Committee will hold a hearing titled “Global Terrorism: Threats to the Homeland, Part II” with testimony from Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan, FBI Director Chris Wray, and Acting Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Russell Travers. 10am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a confirmation hearing for the nomination of Joseph Sullivan to be Ambassador to Russia. 10am
- THe House Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing to discuss a draft bill to amend the Puerto Rico Oversight, management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA). 2pm
THURSDAY
- The Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “Supply Chain Security, Global Competitiveness, and 5G”. 9:30am
- The Commission on Security & Cooperation in Europe (aka the Helsinki Commission) will hold a hearing titled “At What Cost? The Human Toll of Turkey’s Policy at Home and Abroad”. 10am
FRIDAY
- The Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress will hold a hearing titled “Congress and the Frank: Bringing Congressional Mailing Standards Into the 21st Century”. 10am
