Sorry, folks, no time for small talk today—we’re busy at work getting you the latest on a few major stories:
Republicans in the House Intelligence Committee are saying their investigation into Russia meddling is complete, and they’ve found no coordination between Moscow and the Trump campaign. Democrats are expected to release a competing report highlighting avenues the committee had failed to investigate.
Today, Trump is making his first trip as president to California—he’ll be in San Diego, viewing prototypes of a border wall being built along the Mexican border. His administration and the Golden State aren’t on the best of terms—last week, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced he was suing the state; in response, Gov. Jerry Brown (D) said that Trump was “basically going to war” with California.
As if that weren’t enough to cramp our typing fingers, special election season kicks off today in Pennsylvania. Republican Rick Saccone is running against Democrat Conor Lamb for the 18th District seat. President Trump won the 18th by nearly 20 points in the 2016 election. Alas, a recent Emerson College survey found Lamb leading Saccone by 48-45. Is it a blue-wave? Or will it be a blue-collar wave as Trump energizes his base? Read all about it here.
President Trump’s plan to address school shootings does not include his previous calls to raise the age for buying semi-automatic weapons to 21. In a series of tweets on Monday, the president summarized what his adminstration's proposals on school safety and gun restrictions do include: background checks, a bump-stock ban, and "highly trained expert teachers will be allowed to conceal carry, subject to State Law." Click here to read what is - and is not - in Trump's gun policy proposals.
Should there be a minimum age to get married? Some states say "no." That's why Countable is asking you about child marriage laws. They've been in the news quite a bit recently: a bill to limit underage marriage in Kentucky has been delayed after the conservative Family Foundation voiced concerns about the wording. And last Friday, Florida passed legislation prohibiting marriage for anyone under 17. Half of all states have no minimum age to marry, but do require anyone under 14 to obtain a judge’s approval. Tell us your thoughts on child marriage here.

How lovely! djt looking at big, ineffective walls costing billions, then round tabling with the Russian infiltrated and Russian $$$ backed NRA. Maybe the NRA should pay for the wall?
There has been no collusion or obstruction of justice by our great President Donald Trump. Intelligent people have known that for months. There have been many accomplishments, however, by Trump that are helping our country. You nay-sayers should join us on the right, and you’ll be happier.
The house intelligence committee cannot make one unified statement? This is insanity. Our government needs to be completely overhauled. Special interests, lobbyists, and party are so massively powerful in Washington that our public servants don’t even bother to pretend they work for the public good instead of their own private gain. For the republican members to make a premature report that blatantly contradicts the sworn testimony of several major witnesses in the Mueller investigation seems like a farce-until we stop and remember that it is not a joke, it really is our freaking government. If this is the best we can do I think the “great experiment” is a failure.
As a NATIVE CALIFORNIAN I for one do not want that ORANGE piece of 💩 in our wonderful state.
The fact that Republicans on the Intelligence Committee have released their own statement without input from the Democrats on the committee speaks volumes about how partisan and broken the House has become. Think about it. The Intelligence Committee can’t get past party politics long enough to work together for the American people regarding this serious issue of national security. Uh, Houston, we have a problem. I suppose now we wait for the Democrats’ response and try to search out the truth somewhere in between the two. (Pretty sure that was the committee’s job.) Personally, I think I’ll just wait to see what Mr. Mueller has to say.
I support Conor Lamb, not the “President”. And certainly no support for the “wall”, including having my tax dollars paying for it
Republicans stop the crap who do you think your kidding. There was collusion and you know it. Trump and his kids are crooked. He’s just like Clinton. I can’t wait for The debates when stormy is there along with 18 other women.
BUILD THAT WALL!
Here we are again in PA. 2 precincts to go and the counting stops. 591/593 precincts reporting. 10:58 EST. Margin of victory dead even. Recount territory. What are the odds that a reliably democrat precinct holds its ballots until almost last and comes in with just enough votes to magically prevent a recount?
The fascist liberals lost again. As it be known there was No cullsion with Russia. The liberal democrats set this up against President Trump with no evidence and a very high cost to taxpayers. Now President Trump can concentrate on building the Wall and protecting America from drugs, terrorist and illegals.
Everything is such a mess, our country isn’t quite in turmoil but it’s certainly in discord. Nobody can agree on anything, and it seems common ground is far away. We need to band together a bit more. American citizens as a whole have no identity at this point. We need to meet in the middle, that will include not being too progressive in our beliefs and desires, but also not clinging to the past and old laws as much as we do. The world will progress and change with or without us, and we need to keep up with it.
Trump's statement that he made this weekend says it all. A vote for Saccone is a vote for Trump. 🌊So, we shall see if PA-18 wants more Trump.⚜️This election isn't about party or saving money (or at least it shouldn't be). 🌊This election needs to be about restoration of congressional balance and getting a sexual predator out of the oval office. 🌊No matter what party you side with, we need to stand up and say to the world that we are not a nation of con artists and thieves. ⚜️45 is right about one thing, the world is watching and it is time to prove to everyone that behavior in this country DOES matter and that our leadership IS held to a higher standard of expectations than a cocker spaniel in heat.
I’m glad to hear the investigation of the Trump campaign and Russia is finally complete and as known all along was a witch hunt by the Democrats, who are not satisfied and continue to try to do anything to discredit this president. With this investigation done, how about a thorough and appropriate investigation into Hillary Clinton. Sounds like Obama may have known and been involved as well in the underhanded dealings. If there is justice then connect the dots to what is and prosecute them. At the very minimum Clinton destroyed evidence which is obstruction o justice. What is going on in our country is disgraceful when someone in power can do such terrible things and walk away unscathed. Even as bad is all the slander and lies to discredit someone who is not guilty of said accusations. This is totally reprobated and wastes taxpayer dollars. Our country is in a sad, sad state of affairs.
After how many millions of tax dollars? Hello, is anyone home!
Intelligent people want to know why Donnie will insult our allies who have stood by us and praise Putin who looks to destroy our democracy. I think he is compromised and needs to be investigated by more concerned Americans than say a Devin Nunez who chose to run cover instead of looking for facts.
GOP sees no ties with Putin and a tweet sends Rex packing...Pathetic!.
Such hypocrisy, double standards and untruths....I trust that there will be the the few that will stand up for what our constitution stands for in these very trying times. No problem with different opinions or views because that’s what makes this country awesome. There have always been politicians talking out of both sides of their mouths...it just seems nowadays some have made it a profession and get compensated for it. More empty suits....no actions.
I don’t like my General Attorneys Behavior, I think my President will face another, Lawsuit, and Highly Train Police Officer will defend California, and I will asked my Governor Jerry Brown Jr, have to say about that one, and I have many Judges is really to Suing Washington DC.
The greatest democracy in the history of the world is being allowed to die by the GOP.
