The Senate Judiciary Committee will begin the first of several days of confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. ET. The ninth seat on the Supreme Court has been vacant since the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016.
The first day will feature the opening statements of the Judiciary Committee’s 11 Republicans and nine Democrats, before Gorsuch offers his opening statement later in the day. Gorsuch will be introduced by Sens. Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Cory Gardner (R-CO) — who represent his home state of Colorado — and Neal Kaytal, who served as Acting Solicitor General during the Obama administration.
Judge Gorsuch’s testimony, involving two rounds of question-and-answer periods with senators, will come Tuesday and likely continue on Wednesday. Once that’s complete, the committee will hear from witnesses (Wednesday or Thursday), starting with a panel representing the American Bar Association, which will take the stand to offer their traditional evaluation of the nominee’s professional qualifications.
After that there will be three more panels of witnesses called, divided evenly between witnesses for the committee’s majority and minority. Following the conclusion of the hearings, the Judiciary Committee is planning to hold a vote on Monday April 3 to send Gorsuch’s nomination to the full Senate.

Obviously the legitimacy of this presidency is questionable. The confirmation of Gorsuch for Supreme Court Justice must be delayed until the investigation into POTUS and CO's possible collusion with Russia's interference in our election has been completed.
President Obama's nomination for SCOTUS needs a hearing before Trump's. Republicans acted like toddlers and denied the nominee their hearing. Unacceptable behavior from the GOP
No confirmation hearings until after an independent bipartisan investigation of the Russian trump contacts
Please reject the nomination of Gorsuch for this stolen seat. For the next four years, if need be. The socially destructive GOP doesn't deserve any more power to destroy the rights of women, minorities, the poor, the sick, the old, immigrants, Muslims, free press, and the environment while simultaneously providing ridiculous tax advantages to the rich. Stop the power grab NOW!
Please do whatever you must (including filibuster) to block the appointment of Neil Gorsuch. No more confirmations/appointments until the matter of the President's conflicts of interests and ties to Russia are fully investigated.
I'm writing to encourage you to commit to the filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. He has a history of favoring corporations over the rights of individuals, and believes that issues such as gay marriage and school vouchers should be kept out of the courts. Meanwhile, he supports the theory that for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby should have the right to religious freedom. This kind of favoritism of conservative policy needs to be stopped. Please filibuster and stop this man from impacting the decisions of the bench for decades to come.
The man who nominated Gorsuch is currently under FBI Investigation as are the circumstances of his election. The judge should therefore not be confirmed until those investigations are complete.
"WITHHOLD CONSENT!! Merrick Garland is the next in line for a confirmation hearing, not Neil Gorsuch. Democrats must stand firm and not be swept up in the pressure to bend to Trump's agenda. No more playing nice. Use the same tactics that the Republicans have used effectively against Obama over the last 8 years."
Do not confirm Neil Gorsuch. If Merrick Garland couldn't get a hearing, we should not confirm this candidate. No one nominated by this so called President should be considered until the ties to Russia are investigated. We already have people in this administration who are questionable!
I am disappointed in the disrespect shown to the American people by the Republican-led Senate and their antics in defying their President to delay this nomination to the Supreme Court. It was one year ago that President Obama made a nomination to replace Justice Scalia that the Senate blatantly ignored. Shame on you.
The republicans never even interviewed Obama's nomination for the Supreme Court last year with the excuse it was an election year and the next president should have this honor/ duty. But, and this is important, our current president's campaign is officially under investigation for being connected to Russia and its meddling in our election process. Plus I believe our FBI director took part in swaying votes. I believe should Trump's cohorts and he himself be found guilty of election fraud and money laundering schemes, likely to be discovered, that neither he nor his Vice President should remain in office. Therefore, he should not be allowed to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court which are for life! If the republican congress pushes this through before the truth comes out, they are on shaky grounds themselves. Please put this off until we know what really happened with our 2016 election. Thank you!
The only supreme Court nominee who should be confirmed is Merriick Garland!! He should have been confirmed last year. Stand firm against Gorsuch
I do not believe that Mr. Gorsuch is able to separate church and state. Laws and justice should not be conditional based on one's religious beliefs, especially in cases of pro-life, sexual orientation and ethnicity. Mr. Gorsuch has a history of basing his decisions that are reflective of these "prejudices." Please do not approve him.
No to Gorsuch; poor record regarding women and LGBT rights,
Vote no on Gorsuch. His past rulings have sided with large corporations over people. His stance on money in politics is also troubling.
Hello, my name is Rebecca Carpenter, and I'm a constituent from 80249. I would like you to oppose Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch in any and every way you have at your disposal. My main concerns with him are his conservative, archaic views for women's health, which was evident when he sided with Hobby Lobby during their case when they wanted to refuse to provide women with contraceptives via their ACA coverage. I'm also extremely concerned about his outdated and conservative views for the LGBTQ community. Please reject Gorsuch to keep America moving forward and maintain equal rights for all her citizens.
I urge you to vote NO on Neil Gorsuch. He is a threat to women's health, and has been appointed by a president with ongoing, severe conflicts of interest and scandal, who will likely not be in office even four years. Please consider the enormous threat this appointment poses to the future of America.
No voting on anything until the FBI and independent commission investigates the Russia connection. This whole election may be invalidated.
This guy does not represent us fairly. It would be a detriment to America to elect him. We must block Supreme Court nominations until the suspicion with this administration is either confirmed or put to rest.
Vote NO on the Gorsuch nomination. He has been evasive in answering questions and is FAR MORE conservative than Scalia. He panders to the elite. We need a moderate and meticulous justice...someone like Merrick Garland. This was our (Democrat) position to fill and the Republicans showed no courtesy to Garland. Gorsuch is unfit.
