Good morning, friends. A fresh new week brings fresh new opportunities… for thought & conversation… and for taking action by telling Congress what they should do. Thank goodness that, these days, taking action is a lot easier -- Hit that button! They work for you!
The House of Representatives comes back to DC today, but don't get too excited: lawmakers plan to vote on seven different bills to rename post offices. Yes, really.
All snark aside, The House does have interesting subjects on its agenda this week (after today's votes), including the regulation of financial institutions and banks, questions about emissions from big-business kilns and the use of taxpayer funds for official portraits.
Since the Supreme Court issued a pivotal ruling last week, lawmakers have largely dropped the once-critical debate over extending DACA -- the program of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Here's our primer & Issue Action Center on DACA.
The Court's action keeps DACA alive, for now, but that hasn't put to rest the concerns of thousands of "Dreamers."
That includes some active military personnel and their spouses. One man told the Military Times,
“I was deployed and worried that my wife and child would be deported by the same country I was fighting for."
Cast your vote on this pair of interesting bills:

I am an American citizen, born here and lived my life here. I am ashamed of people who ‘could care less about the dreamers” and have no compassion for their fellow humans. This country was made great by the immigrants who came here, and killed the Native Americans to build the country (not a great legacy at that). white Europeans wanted new land and they got it, they wanted religious freedom, and they got it, they wanted no taxation without representation, and they got it. Now, more than 200+ years later we have a toddler for a President, a sewage filled Administration. We are seeing greatness pushed aside for wealth and power, we are allowing the slaughter of innocent children in favor of the 2nd Amendment and the NRA. And, by the way, the 2nd Amendment is just that...and amendment and it CAN be changed. Now some of great fellow citizens who are comfortable want the dreamers tossed, a wall built and immigration to be tightly controlled. It makes me sick to think there are such heartless, selfish people and they are responsible for the electing of a foolish bully. We are NOT great.
If someone fights for this country by enlisting and wearing the uniform then they should be afforded the opportunity to become a full citizen of this country. That includes their immediate family as well. Stop deportation of Veterans.
DACA now. I don’t have a favorite political song. Tax credit for “new mom’s”, NO. That tax credit is for a child, not an embryo. These made up arguments to give tax credits are ludicrous, when your child is born and you are spendin that’s when you get a tax credit. How much more spending do we need for the military? If it is going directly into the pockets of soldiers and their families I’m all for it but if it’s for more weapons and programs, NO.
We need a clean DACA bill now to protect all Dreamers but this message is about our military personnel and their families. So when I focus on the military today, it's not to ignore the rest of the dreamers but to remind the xenophobic members of our country that post on countable that there are many dreamers in the military. Please do not allow the president and his Brownshirt ICE agents to deport our otherwise law abiding undocumented. We have so many in the military who fear deportation and this is bad in places with cartels because they target ex military to force them to help them. Noncompliance could mean death for them or their family.
We promised these “kids” they could stay if they in good faith gave the government their information! Mr. Trump and the GOP don’t seem to think that is important. Our word around the world has become worthless! Especially with a president that can and will change in mind in an instant! There was supposedly bipartisan support for the DACA program do something now! No excuses!
Bc, late term abortion is only for medical necessity! Like if something if wrong with the fetus! Stop listening to Fox News and ask an obstetrician about this!
The senate is preparing to roll back banking rules and regulation, which will only set us up for another banking crisis, which the taxpayers will have to bale out, Know as Dodd-Franks. Here we go again. Looks like a kick backs? We need to get corporations out of government!
It is sad that people came into this country looking for the streets of gold. Just to make a better life for themselves and their families, then we crap on them. Most of them have taken and do the jobs no one else wants just so their kids have it better than they. The majority are not the people our president said, they are hard working honest people. I guess we have it so good we can look down our noses at them. So sad, the immigrants who serve in our military deserve a ticket towards citizenship. This is supposed to be the melting pot so why be prejudice against anyone.
I was born here in the United States thanks to my parents that I migrated from Cuba and brought all my relatives through chain migration!!! I served in our military and I am ashamed and embarrassed of what this GOP led congress and the president are doing to immigration!!! The terrorists that live here get their weapons right here because of our gun laws(or lack there of). Immigrants aren’t terrorists the NRA, GOP are terrorist enablers.
DACA Today, DACA tomorrow, DACA forever. On the other hand, we could enforce our existing immigration laws and punish those who break them accordingly. I’m leaning with the second.
Just obey the law! People we are on the verge of total break down. We have been on a slippery slope for years and something has to be done.
If these “Dreamers” want to stay here, then they should have to swerve in the military for at least 4 years before any consideration would be given to grant citizenship or permanent legal status. If they refuse then they should be deported, because they are here illegally, no matter how they came here. Favorite political song, pretty much anything done by Megadeth.
No tax credits for new moms. No tax deduction for the time of pregnancy. As long as late term abortion is allowed, they can not claim an unborn child as a tax write off.
The times, they are a-changin’ -Bob Dylan

The fore points of the President’s immigration plan will help dreamers especially in the military.
Stop all of the lawless illegal immigration in to this country defend the boarder and construct the wall. Support the legal american family and aid for all of the pregnant mothers. Stand with the United states of america its flag its national anthem and its armed forces. Battle hymn of the republic is a awesome patriotic song.
We want our military to have what ever they need, to protect themselves and our country. I do not care about the dreamers they can become American citizens on their own. We do not have to give them anything, and I am sick of hearing about them they have no right protesting in our country they are not American citizens. Women who become pregnant, when the child is born you put that child on your taxes that's the way it is always been that's the way it should stay. Our politicians are always complaining about the deficit, but they keep finding new ways to spend our tax dollars. The American people voted Donald Trump to be our president, we want the wall, we want you to stop and chain migration, and the lottery migration. You all sit in your chairs but you do not hear what the American people are saying, and when you do hear it you take a deaf ear, you can take all of what the news media says and throw it in the trashcan, you can take all the polls you want, they don't mean anything we voted for Donald Trump that's it, we have a new name for the media, we call them the vultures.
My favs: “When the President Talks to God” by Bright Eyes, “Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythym of War Drums” by A Perfect Circle, “Bu$hleaguer” by Pearl Jam, “Bad Day” by REM and “American Idiot” by Green Day, and “True Nature” by Jane’s Addiction
When you get back in Session you need to address legislation that will protect the Dreamers. This administration cares nothing for the young Americans he has put in harms way. Step up and protect these young people and the promise made to them.
