This Week in Congress: Nearly $1.4 Trillion in FY2020 Spending, Judicial Nominations, and the Annual Defense Authorization
How do you feel about this week's congressional agenda?
The House will start its week on Tuesday by picking up where it left off last week in its consideration of a more than $982 billion “minibus” spending bill providing FY2020 funding for programs at the Departments of Defense, Education, Health & Human Services, Labor, and State. It will then take up a bill to extend expiring provisions of Medicaid, before moving on to $383 billion minibus spending package which containing five appropriations bills that will dominate the rest of the week’s schedule.
The Senate convenes on Tuesday for a vote on the confirmation of the CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, which will be followed by procedural votes on the nominations of four district court judges. Wednesday will likely feature confirmation votes on those four nominations and a procedural vote to start debate on the annual defense policy authorization bill.
