Welcome to Tuesday, June 11, digitals and analogues...
Former White House aide Hope Hicks. Department of Commerce secretary William Ross. Attorney General William Barr. Ex-White House counsel Donald McGahn. Former deputy counsel Annie Donaldson.
All were instructed by the White House not to comply with congressional subpoenas.
A new Hill-HarrisX poll, however, finds that 74% of Americans believe former senior White House officials should be required to testify before Congress when they are subpoenaed. (Including 87% of Democrats, 73% of Independents, and 61% of Republicans)
26% of respondents said they believe that former officials should not have to testify.
Sen. Ed Markey’s (D-MA) Save the Internet Act, which would restore Obama-era net neutrality rules, is expected to be brought to the Senate floor on June 11.
In April, the House passed their version of the Save the Internet Act, which would prohibit internet service providers (ISPs) from blocking, throttling, or engaging in paid prioritization.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has declared the bill "dead on arrival" in the Republican-majority Senate.
“In order for this effort to have a chance,” Reddit staff wrote in a post, “our Senators need to know that this is something their constituents care about. While the polling is bipartisan and overwhelmingly in favor of Net Neutrality, polling doesn’t speak as loudly as constituent phone calls.”
Outlets like Reddit have given the call to action—answer it YEA or NAY.
In Switzerland, social animals like guinea pigs, parrots, and parakeets are considered victims of abuse if they’re not kept in pairs.
A new Swiss law also requires that if cats are kept alone, they must have daily contact with either a human or visual contact with another feline.
The U.S. has no law requirements for social animals. Should we? Should owning only one social animal be illegal?
