Carson & Perry Confirmed as Trump's Cabinet Grows

by Countable | 3.20.17

After the Senate started off slowly by confirming only 10 of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees during the first five weeks of his presidency, senators picked up the pace by confirming four more nominees so far this week.

On Monday, Wilbur Ross was confirmed as Secretary of Commerce on a 72-27 vote. Following President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, the Senate got back to work Wednesday and confirmed Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) as Secretary of the Interior by a 68-31 margin. The newly-minted secretary commuted in style to his first full day on the job, riding a horse alongside park police officers:

The Senate doubled down on confirmations Thursday with both Ben Carson and Rick Perry gaining the chamber’s approval as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Secretary of Energy, respectively. That leaves only two Cabinet nominees still awaiting confirmation, Alexander Acosta — the new Labor Secretary nominee following Andy Puzder’s withdrawal — and Sonny Perdue, who Trump picked to lead the Dept. of Agriculture.

You can keep track of the confirmation schedule for President Trump’s nominees here, and use the "Take Action" button to tell your senators how they should vote.

Ben Carson is grossly unqualified for the head of Housing and Urban Development. He is a doctor, and a good one. But he knows nothing about housing and urban development. Clearly Trump's goal is to select the most unqualified people he can find, as long as they give him money. Betsy DeVos proves that. But my question is how can our elected representatives keep pushing these people through??? You should not forget that although Trump was elected through the electoral vote that can grant him a win with a minority of the population, you rely on the popular vote which requires a majority. You answer to the majority of the people. And continuing to select these incompetent people for positions of power is going to make the majority of the people angry.

Very disappointed to see Rick Perry and Ben Carson appointed. The swamp monsters just keep getting appointments. Cronies. Unfit for the duties. Cronies. So disappointed.

Our government must be the laughing stock of the world and who would want to trust it. Trump put people over agency that they want to get rid of, not help or improve, because the people over it are be holding to others or they them self have a conflict interest. This is Bannon and Trump ideas in the bring down government, rules and regulation for corporate America. This is why the stock is so high they love it. The problem with this is, no rules, regulation and government is chaos, monopoly, kick backs and corruption. If you don't have rules and regulations or get rid of them, you have 2008 as example in the banking industry, chaos in trades and goods or markets instability. Also the cost of health care in the USA is about $8000 per every man, women and child, insured or not. Countries that have 100% coverage for everyone, cost $4000 per person. We pay more for health care then any country in the world and do not have 100% of the population covered? This is because of corporate America greed. Free enterprise, self regulation and trickle down sound great, but it does not works and never has work. Trump talks about making America great again? I am not sure what that even means and to who or what? America is great and has alway been great, a beacon of light. If you don't think so go live in another country and see. Coal, steel industries and some manufacturing jobs are done, unless they can produce cheeper and clean up their act! Coal is toxic. The people in the coal, steel and automobile industry were left out by their representative to hang out to dry. They should have help them with new skills, not just in the coal towns, but across America. Our youth is our future, with out eduction in our youth, there is no future. The wealth of a country is directly proportional to the number of people it has and is only as good as its investment in them! By the way you do not want qualified people in government, because they will improve the process. , They will not get rid of the agency complete, because corporations hide behind government agencies from the public.

Each successive cabinet pick just gets worse and worse. The foxes are being appointed to look after the henhouse. All of these men have deep ties to Wall St. And to big oil interests. What this country needs is deep investment in alternative energy, not continuing kowtowing to the ghastly wealthy oil barons and their environment destroying industry. As representatives from Colorado, the environment should be your number one concern! This state is nothing without its natural beauty!

Wow! So the new Secretary of Energy is a C student with a degree in Animal Science! Shame on those who voted this man into a position previously occupied by a scientist, nuclear physicist with a PHd! The person before that was a Nobel Prize winner...nothing like lowering the bar! Again not qualified! And why oh why would Dr Carson be put in charge of HUD instead of the Surgeon General position? Just ridiculous and if we live through these fiascos, we will remember come election time!

To my representatives: Shame on you for accepting the President's egregiously unworthy appointees. Shame on you for setting such low standards. Shame on you for expediting more and more shady dealings. Shame on you for abandoning the American people. Shame on you for selling out.

This is the most ridiculous circus ever! It's laughable! Ben "the pyramid's were made to store grain" Carson is confirmed as head of HUD... a man that has publicly stated a) discrimination against LGBT should be legal and b) he has zero qualifications to be involved in government! Ugh. Then we have Rick "oops" Perry heading up a department whose name he couldn't remember and wants to do away with. Am I crazy in thinking this is a FARCE? This entire administration and its cabinet is a colossal FARCE!
