After the Senate started off slowly by confirming only 10 of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees during the first five weeks of his presidency, senators picked up the pace by confirming four more nominees so far this week.
On Monday, Wilbur Ross was confirmed as Secretary of Commerce on a 72-27 vote. Following President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, the Senate got back to work Wednesday and confirmed Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) as Secretary of the Interior by a 68-31 margin. The newly-minted secretary commuted in style to his first full day on the job, riding a horse alongside park police officers:

The Senate doubled down on confirmations Thursday with both Ben Carson and Rick Perry gaining the chamber’s approval as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Secretary of Energy, respectively. That leaves only two Cabinet nominees still awaiting confirmation, Alexander Acosta — the new Labor Secretary nominee following Andy Puzder’s withdrawal — and Sonny Perdue, who Trump picked to lead the Dept. of Agriculture.
