This Week in Congress: Disaster Relief, Pre-Existing Conditions Protections, and Judicial Nominations
How do you feel about this week's congressional agenda?
The Senate starts its week on Monday with a procedural vote on the nomination of Joseph Bianco to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. If it succeeds, a confirmation vote will likely follow on Tuesday before the Senate moves to consider the nomination of Michael Park, who would also be a judge on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. The rest of the week is expected to focus on three nominations to serve on the Export-Import Bank’s board of directors and a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The House convenes on Tuesday for votes on bills to promote the U.S. relationship with Taiwan and a bill to advance American business and trading interests through diplomacy. Wednesday will feature votes on five bills, including a bill to expand access to broadband internet. The rest of the week will focus on a bill to reverse an executive action that loosened requirements for state waivers under Obamacare and a bill to provide $17.2 billion in disaster relief.
