The Final 4 of Countable’s Spring 2019 Bill Acronym Bracket
How do you feel about Congress's use of bill acronyms?
In honor of March Madness and politicians’ penchant for the pithy bill acronyms that have grown in popularity since the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act, we’ve put together another tournament in which you — Countable users — will choose the best bill acronym of the 116th Congress.
Countable’s selection committee has chosen and seeded 16 of the most creatively, and in some cases spitefully, titled pieces of legislation this Congress has introduced, and we have four worthy contenders for the championship: Sen. Mark Warner’s (D-VA) Stop the STUPIDITY Act will face Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) EPIC Act, while Rep. Vern Buchanan’s (R-FL) RAWR Act will match up with Rep. Anthony Brown’s (D-MD) FIRED Act.
You can vote on your favorite semi-finalists through Wednesday, and the winners square off in next week’s championship. May the best bill acronym win!
(1) Stop the Shutdowns Transferring Unnecessary Pain and Inflicting Damage In The coming Years (STUPIDITY) Act vs. (5) End Pensions in Congress (EPIC) Act
(2) Rescuing Animals With Rewards (RAWR) Act vs. (3) Fighting for Intelligent, Rational, and Ethical Dismissal (FIRED) Act
