How do you feel about this week's committee schedule?
Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees ― which also conduct oversight of federal agencies. Here’s a look at what Congressional committees will be holding hearings on this week.

Tuesday
- The Senate Education Committee will hold a hearing titled “Reauthorizing the Higher Education Act: Simplifying the FAFSA and Reducing the Burden of Verification”. 10am
- The House Budget Committee will hold a hearing on the president’s 2020 budget with Acting OMB Director Russell Vought. 10am
- The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled “Holding Megabanks Accountable: An Examination of Wells Fargo’s Pattern of Consumer Abuses”. 10am
- The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing titled “Approaching 25: The Road Ahead for the World Trade Organization”. 10:15am
Wednesday
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing titled “FOIA: Examining Transparency Under the Trump Administration”. 9:30am
- The House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled “NATO at 70: An Indispensable Alliance”. 10am
- The House Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing titled “National Security Challenges and U.S. Military Activities in Europe”. 10am
- The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold confirmation hearings on the nominations of two judges to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. 10am
- The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to markup the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act if 2019 (H.R. 1585). 10am
- The House Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing titled “Preparing for the Storm: Reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program”. 10am
- The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing titled “The New Space Race: Ensuring U.S. Global Leadership on the Final Frontier”. 10am
- The House Science Committee will hold a hearing titled “America in Space: Future Visions, Current Issues”. 10am
- The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing titled “A New Approach for an Era of U.S.-China Competition”. 10:15am
- The Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing on the president’s 2020 budget proposal with Acting OMB Director Russell Vought. 2:30pm
Thursday
- The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on the president’s 2020 budget proposal with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. 9am
- The Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on the Financial Stability Oversight Council’s Nonbank Designations. 10am
- The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. 10am
- The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing on the president’s 2020 budget proposal with HHS Secretary Alex Azar. 10:15am
- The Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing on the president’s 2020 budget proposal with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. 1:30pm
