- The AP is reporting that top congressional lawmakers have reached a bipartisan legislative agreement that would avert another partial government shutdown later this week.
- Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) told reporters “we have an agreement in principle” on all bills and that Congress “will be working feverishly to put” everything together.
- The deal includes $1.375 billion for physical barriers (specifically bollard barriers).
- Detention-bed numbers will stay at their current funding level of 40,520 (a number currently surpassed by ICE). Democrats have reportedly dropped their demand of a 16,500 cap on interior beds.
- On January 25th, President Donald Trump made a deal with Democrats to end the 35-day partial government shutdown and reopen the government through February 15.
