Welcome to Tuesday, Homo grammaticuses...
We may have "in principle" avoided another partial government shutdown.
Congressional negotiators revealed late Monday that they'd reached "an agreement in principle" on border security funding.
"We reached an agreement in principle between us on all the homeland security and the other six bills," said Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL), a lead Republican negotiator. “The White House has been consulted all along."
The deal includes $1.375 billion for physical barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border, which can only be used for construction to cover around 55 miles in the Rio Grande Valley.
Democrats reportedly dropped their demand to restrict the number of unauthorized immigrants who can be detained by Immigration and Custom Enforcement at a time. According to sources, Democrats have agreed to provide enough money for 40,520 detention beds for ICE, a roughly 17 percent reduction from current levels.
What do you think? Do you support this border bill?

Before bills and nominations are brought up for a passage vote in Congress, they typically have to be considered and approved by relevant committees.
We take a thorough look at the hearings Congressional committees will be holding this week in our Committee Watch, but here are a few we're watching extra closely:

No wall. No shutdown. No emergency. No wall.
Finally, Congress is doing its job instead of cowering to the demands of a liar. Trump’s arguments for his racist wall were all based on a pile of lies. This president is exactly why our government was designed with checks and balances. If you’re still buying all of Donnie’s lies, you’re only lying to yourself.
We don’t need troops there for mostly families, women & children seeking refuge & asylum😩
Sending troops to the boarder or building a wall is a waist of my taxes. Start working on real problems or quit
Hold your ground, Senate! No wall. No money for barrier bullshit. The President is a loon and I don’t want Congress spending money on the racist ideas of a raving lunatic who just wants to get applause from fellow lunatics at rallies.
No wall, no shutdown and no emergency at southern boarder.
I’m very disappointed in both parties for not addressing E Verify as a solution to our illegal immigration problems. It appears both parties are encouraging illegal immigration instead of encouraging legal immigration. People are coming here mainly for economic reasons. If you cut off the flow of jobs to illegal workers they will all stop coming illegally and start applying legally. I have been a Democrat all my life but I’m starting to not recognize the party of working people anymore. If you don’t see it you live in a glass house. Employers that hire undocumented workers are the problem but you lawmakers are turning a blind eye to the problem. E Verify is not anti immigrant. It just encourages people to obey our laws. We are a nation of laws . Can we pleas start acting like it and encourage legal immigration?
You know how many troops we need at the southern border? ⭕️‼️ That’s how many!! ZERO troops is what is needed at the southern border!! Quit allowing trump to grandstand and bring those men and women back home from there. They are not needed there
Stop catering to the demands of a deluded, lying would be dictator. Send the troops home or to useful work. A few good workers would be welcome here in wautoma,wi. Sort out the criminals. Forget this imaginary crisis. El Paso spoke loud and clear last night.
Yes, we should withdraw the National Guard from the border-there is no and has been no national threat at our border. Manufactured fear is the only crime committed and that was from our president not by the facts at our borders.
Now that more of my tax money has been wasted, can they start planning the 2020 budget? Pretty sure it’s due 30 Sep
The so-called humanitarian crisis at the border is a figment of Trump’s demented mind. The crises are not paying your Federal employees but asking them to work, failing to hire enough immigration judges To process cases for asylum expeditiously and stealing children at the border from their parents. These are Trump-made crises and they are shameful.
Yes they should not have been sent there in the first place. This president is a lunatic
I’m happy that Governor Newsom is recalling some of the National guard from the southern boarder. They have more important jobs to do. Most of us know there is no national emergency there from families with small children seeking asylum. This whole emergency nonsense is made up by the President. He should not be allowed to get away with this sort of stuff. He needs to start doing what is right for the country as a whole, not just what he thinks his base wants.
Sure, pull the National Guards away from the border...just as soon as the wall is finished.
Thank you lawmakers for putting American people first
No wall ever! Send the troops home! Trump and Republicans need to stop calling yourself Christians! There is no Bible that justifies your racism!
No shutdown has not been averted, no do not withdraw troops. Thousands are at Mexico border in tent cities waiting to come in, some criminals, some already deported multiple times, some sick. 330 just showed up at NM border, many unaccompanied minors included. ICE beds are full, CLOSE THE BORDER DOWN, after the people in ICE custody have been vetted and given amnesty/refugee status and released ONLY THEN allow more in to fill ICE beds them close border again. They are 2000 understaffed and Congress is REFUSING to do their job to protect CITIZENS. Proof-Trumps favorable polls just hit 52% !Enough is enough! Liberals STOP THIS MADNESS!
We do need the wall whatever the cost we do need the troops down there to keep the illegals from coming in until they get the wall done bottom line is most people want to be protected now the Democrats don’t care I want to wall open and all the people coming in and I don’t realize the bottom line after all on welfare and food stamps and welfare in the Bill Ford and they’re draining her Social Security fund paiying for itPelot ski in the summer so happy about having to illegals coming in to stay and why did Paloschi call the police on a bunch of them showed up at her house asked him for shelter and food
There is no need for national guard or the military to be at the border. The crises and drama are made up and has no justifications. This administration must stop playing with our country’s resources to prove a made up crises. Congress do your job of oversight responsibility.
