The Tennessee General Assembly are considering an anti-LGBTQ bill which could give adoption agencies the ability to deny LGBTQ families the opportunity to adopt children, protect businesses who use so-called “religious exemptions” as a way to discriminate against LGBTQ people, and prevent transgender and nonbinary people from using a restroom according to their gender identity.
Let’s face it, these measures represent state-sanctioned licenses to discriminate. In fact, the effort in Tennessee is part of a coordinated campaign across the country to turn back the progress LGBTQ people have made.
According to the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), about 160,000 LGBTQ people live in Tennessee with approximately 18.1% of LGBTQ couples raising children. We know fair-minded people of Tennessee will see right through this charade, but we must stop these destructive bills that would harm our youth and LGBTQ families.
Sign this petition and tell Tennessee lawmakers to stop attacking LGBTQ people in the state. It’s time we put a stop to these attacks on LGBTQ Tennesseans once and for all!
