Currently we don’t draft men so why would we draft women. Did you mean to ask if women should register?
Why is there a draft list to begin with
It seems right. Women have much to offer and they want to be treated as equals. If some are not inclined to combat they can help in other areas.
One love one world, war should be phased out, peace is the answer. We as a species should get along. Resolution not revolution.
NO DRAFTING OF BUT VOLUNTEERING BY WOMAN Woman And The Draft A draft is the mandatory enrollment of individuals into the armed forces. The United States military has been all-volunteer since 1973. But the government maintains the ability to reinstate the draft in case of a national emergency. The Selective Service System is the agency that registers men and is responsible for running a draft. Who Must Register with Selective Service Currently the following legislation is applicable regarding registration for the draft and CURRENTLY woman are not required in do so. * Almost all men age 18-25 who are U.S. citizens or are immigrants living in the U.S. are required to be registered with Selective Service. U.S. law calls for citizens to register within 30 days of turning 18 and immigrants to register within 30 days of arriving in the U.S. * Men in the U.S. on student, visitor, or diplomatic visas and women are not required to register. If Congress and the President authorize a draft: * Men age 18-25 who are registered with the Selective Service System will be called in a sequence determined by random lottery number and year of birth * They'll be examined for mental, physical, and moral fitness for military service * They'll either be deferred or exempted from military service or inducted into the armed forces There’s been a strong past national feeling that woman 👩 shouldn’t be, mandated in entering Armed Forces Service by way of the DRAFT process. I remain in the retaining this procedures. HOWEVER, I’m also of the opinion that woman 👩 can and do fulfill an important role, as we are and have seen, in proof of multitude duties includingCommand of primarily non-combat units. It should remain the responsibility of the various services Chiefs of Staffs in the determination as to which level of combat service that woman may volunteer for. I think instating a draft for women is great in the realm of equality, however, before I can stand behind this we - our government - has many strides to make for women to fit in this traditionally male world. Women are still breaking boundaries within the military. But women cannot serve on submarines due to lack of facilities. Until there’s equality across the board we are a bit ahead of ourselves with this question. First step, equal ability to serve across the military. Second step, should women be part of draft?
Women want to excel in every aspect of the working force. They want to be treated like men so yes they should also be drafted. If not in combat then in some capacity in the armed forces. Being pregnant is not an excuse.
Woman can not handle the emotional tendencies of war. Very few can.
We should not draft anyone, but if we were really under fire one day, then all should be treated equally! Equal service from all!
We should remove the draft for men. More tech and less soldiers is the future.
I don’t believe in a draft for anyone. A volunteer army is the best way to go!
No one should be drafted. Men or women. These Republican Wars are mostly for money making for the government officials like the Bushes & Cheney who made money in the Iraq & Afghanistan Wars. Our Military people do just fine & they have to be able to do certain physical fitness activities to be allowed in to the military.
There's no equality without equal responsibility in conjunction with equal privileges.
I’m well aware that I will probably incur the wrath of a great many people for this, but I’m gonna post it anyway because it’s a right I share with all legal American citizens. Being a retired military veteran, and having 3 children (two men and a woman) who are currently active duty, I have to say that the day we have to resort to drafting women (or men) to serve in time of need is the day we abdicate our throne, so to speak. The nation, at that point, should just sit down and color. There will be those of us who will die in a pile of spent brass rather than capitulate; men and women who will fight and die, willingly, in defense of our brothers and sisters because we are unable to accept defeat. The rest of you... those who would welcome the wolf with open arms, are welcome to whatever is left. At that point, there won’t be anything left to live for. God help us if we get to that point. I hope I don’t live to see that day, because I love this country and what it stands for.
First of all, I am against the draft. We have seen what the draft did to the men that went to Vietnam. Not everyone can handle the military life. However, if a draft is to be required and many are preaching "equality", then yes, by all means, give them equality.
We shouldn’t draft anyone, but the genders should have equal treatment.
I would rather there be no draft. However, if we are going to still have the draft, for the sake of equality of all genders, everyone (men*, women*, nonbinary people) should register. *I am including cis and trans men and women because trans and nonbinary people should be able to serve openly and freely in the military and if there is a draft they should also register.
When you start allowing all able bodied men, women, gays, lesbians, transgenders etc into the military that want to serve then require women to sign up for the draft. Until you accept all, leave women alone and let them be. They already outshine in more important issues than their colleagues, why make them sign up for something that they won’t be respected for
Yes, equality? Register them for draft, no excuses.
The draft should be abolished. Wars should only be allowed by popular vote and if you vote ‘yay’ you are signed up to participate. This way those that get us into are held accountable.
We want to have the same privileges and compensation as men, we need to take on the same responsibilities. Plus I think it would help more women to not see themselves as victims if they know they are able to defend themselves and their country.
